RE: CMP/GSP Spitfire
I didnt. The cmp zero comes in a dark green. I changed it to off white. I got lucky, ultracoat offwhite (I think), almost matches perfect with rustoleum cream. Good enough for sport warbirds. I had way too much trouble with paint chipping on the flying surfaces so I striped it off.

RE: CMP/GSP Spitfire
Hey guys:
Thought I would pass along a little info regarding the red patches found on some WWII warbirds. Those patches were actually for aiding the pilot in detecting certain types of poison gas used by the Nazis. They would charge color if exposed to poison gas.
Cheers

RE: CMP/GSP Spitfire
I built up a CMP Spitfire from Nitroplanes.com
Well built for what Ipaid for. Staff at Nitroplanes are good to deal with in my experiance when using the forums. This was not my first purchase from them. I'm still working to modify the wheel wells. I'm going to expand mine out and put larger diameter wheels. Ithink I'll angle things so the wheels point forwards some too.

CMP Spitfire 120 bash
Found a NIB CMP 120 Spitfire a couple of months back and I am just making a start on it, I want to make it look more scale'ish looking so there is some bashing to be done, the cowl, cockpit, a new canopy, fin and rudder, ailerons and split flaps all to be modded, so far I have got work done on the cowling, cockpit and and trimmed the new canopy to suit

CMP Spitfire 120 bash
I got the tail finished and new rudder made, extended it 2'', looks a lot more scale know, just got to add paint to the cowl cockpit area and cover the rudder to make it look pretty again
Mike
Used foam and thin glass for the 2''extension
New rudder made to suit

I have got the Spitfire ready for it's maiden, Sunday is looking a good day, after a few flights I will give it more detail, panel lines and weathering, I have fitted larger wheels for grass so I am making new FG wheel cover to suit

Got the Spitfire maiden'ed and 7 other flight's, it flies very well could not be more happy with it, only change after the maiden and for the next 3 flights was to move the C of G more forward as the plane flew tail heavy, I had to put 3 oz of lead on the tail to get the C of G at 120 the forward mark, I ended up removing 2-1/2 oz and the C of G changed to108mm, Il get a couple of more flight days in and then it will go back to the hanger to get larger spit flaps added more detailing and weathering

A bit more progress, cf wheel covers added, pilot painted and the over sized cut outs for the prop on the spinner fill in with fg and then painted black, getting there

Looking real good!
Nice work, Limo! Plane looks great - and the bigger tail adds a lot to that. Fast question - whose retracts did you use, and how have they held up?
Thanks!
Thanks!
