Conachen 100" Corsair Engine
I've been working on my Conachen 1/5 Scale 100" Corsair and am down to deciding what engine to power it with. I was originally going to go with a Q75M, but got talked out of that. Now I've got a GT-80 and a Brison 5.8 both sitting on my bench and it's down to those two. I'm guessing the plane will be around 40 lbs or so when finished. I'm leaning towards the 5.8, the the GT-80 also fits nicely in the cowl...any suggestions?

Your Corsair is looking great! I have been debating the Conchan kit but have not gotten around to making a decision. How was the build? Quality of materials, etc. I see you dilema with pwer. The twin would be great to have, but the power of the 5.8 in an aircraft that size sounds more appropriate.

He still sells it and also supports it with spare parts and technical assistance as well. I've gotten a new F4U-1A cowl to replace the F4U-4 cowl that I originally had and he shipped it the same day I called. I've also made a few calls to Jim with questions about the plane and he is always taking feedback from owners to improve the manual that he has created for the kit. Overall, I'm very pleased with mine and the support I've gotten.

Wouldn't that be cool? Not quite ready to plop down $3K on an engine, unfortunately. Looks like this one will have to be happy with the 5.8!

Howard, I am at the engine mounting stage for my F4U and would be interested to know if you put any right or down thrust on your plane. Jim maintains that this would not be necessary due to the offset in the rudder.
Thanks,
Dave
