Google images the following: Jack Ilfrey (leading Aggie ace) for Happy Jack's Go Buggy (his P-38). Also google Charile Bond and Tex Hill, both Flying Tigers and both Ags. Guy named Hilger was the deputy commander of Doolittle's Raiders and one of 6 Ags on the mission. Ensign George Gay was part of the famous Torpedo Squadron 8 that made the critical sacrifice at the Battle of Midway, also and Ag. And then of course, there was Horace Carswell, the Medal of Honor winner whom Carswell AFB in Fort Worth was named for, an Ag too.
Here is a link for a painted replica of Ilfrey's fighter: http://www.fightin79th.com/ilfrey4.htm
Good luck.

If I ever build a P-51D it will most likely be finished as Ilfrey's "Happy Jack's Go Buggy". Love this scheme. Ilfrey just also happens to have been a Texan so right up your alley!
