I did my Maiden fllght today with my TFGS Corsair and I had a great flight ,,,landing sucked.I landed about 5 feet short and tore up the gear bed logs and lost my canopy somewhere???All is easy fix so now I will do that and fly her again.Flies great, just my dumb thumbs.Second time in 46 years that I have done that.Other than that I am very pleased with plane. The "Dla 58 cc seems to have plenty of power.[just the 1st gal]So I'm still in the trial phaze.Happy though.Tom

Good Job kinda Well with the weather what it is I have managed to try to fly my old dragon lady to get the thumbs working take off roll was nice till I started to add some up, tail came up to high wheel hub collapsed, pulled the power off bird did a cart wheel. no real damage just my pride and then found I was trying to fly the wrong plain on the x-mitter, so now new wheels are installed and will try to get out next week again and may also take out the corsair.

And that is what I like about my 2.4 radios, Very hard if not impossible to fly the wrong plane. My only problem now is, I have three 2.4 radios and I have to remember which plane is programmed to which radio. DOH.

With all of the guys that have come and gone in this thread building this kit,I cannot believe that no one has had any problems with the GEAR DOORS with the exception of 1 and that was an ARF and he posted pictures, but what about the rest of you guys are these GEAR DOORS TOP SECRET INFORMATION I THOUGHT THIS THREAD WAS ABOUT SHARING THE INFORMATION AS WELL AS POSTING PICTURES.
I'm not ashamed to admit it I am having one hell of a problem with these doors trying to get them to close all the way. I'm ready to close the chapter on these doors and Fly with out them.

I will work on the doors once the plane has flown a bit. No sense putting all that time and effort into them if the plane doesnt fly well and becomes a kit again. Then again mine isn't giant scale, so forget what i said.

I can try to take some pictures and post them. Here is what I did. I started trying to use some of the levers and other nifty means of moving the gear doors that I have seen. None of them worked for me. So I used 4 micro servos, one for each door. It took a little while tinkering with the linkage geometry to get it sorted out. Also a fairly complex radio mix to get the up and down timing(there are sequencers available), but it does work. I have had some problems on other models with gear door levers jamming the gear in the up position, so I was reluctant to pursue that route. I like the simplicity of individual servos, but I think you could do ok with air cylinders also.

Regards,

Dave

Hay George

I have not been checking the thread, so was unaware you are having problems I don't remember what method you are using so post some pic's if it is mechanical maybe we can give you some ideas, as you know mine are spring loaded open and the side of the wheel closes them. as I remember I used .030 music wire and wound my own springs and I still have not figured out how to post pic's with this new RCU system

Any one help

Cheers bob T

I can help you post pics. Just write out your message like you normally would, but instead of clicking " post reply" , click on advanced options. Scroll down to manage attachments, and click on it. Next, you'll see up in the right where it says add files, click that and then click choose files. From there you can either choose an existing file or take photo. After you choose a picture, just click upload and then either done, or add another. Don't try to drag files into the box, it's confusing. Do like I just described and it should work. If not , let me know and I'll try again to better explain.

George, I've come up with a couple of ways that I think will work good. One way is the way I believe RT is describing. Well get you there.

Steve
Thanks for the info.

George go to post 203 from my notes I think there 4 pic's of my system and to get the doors to close you have to make sure the wheel is below the lower surface, and the arm from the lever to the door was a time consuming thing to get them just right

Cheers guys Bob T

Will give posting pic's tomarow

Hi guys, anyone have any pics of the fuel tank installation? What size tank should I use with a DLE 55 or G62 to get 10 min flights?

Thanks

Hi prop wash

Sounds like you are mastering your bird, One word of caution Corsairs were not designed for 3 pointers, but with out seeing you land I would not thy to tell what to do, on my bird once I start the flare I have to add 1 click of powerto set it on the mains, and once they are down I pull the power back to idle to full stop. Just my way.

Cheers Bob T
