Hi George, I would like to join. I fired up my F4U last Tuesday. Taurus .55 cc eng. Hitec servos and a Biela 20-10 4 bladed prop.
The engine ran great. just some minor issues to fix. The test flight will be soon. John Taylor

Hi John,

I am just seeing this message now. Strange the forum didn't notify me because I incorrectly assumed it would subscribe me to this thread once I replied in it. In any case, I'm sorry I'm just seeing this now!

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll be sure to modify the kit build to incorporate those changes. I actually broke down and bought the ARF kit so that I can fly it this year hopefully... haha.

I'll still continue to build the kit but it'll just take me longer.

Cheers!
Austin

Hey, another F4U in Ct. Did you know that the Corsair is the Ct. State airplane? Didn't know we even had a state airplane until a couple months ago.

Hi George,

Thanks so much! I haven't been on this forum and didn't realize I wasn't subscribed to it. I'm just seeing this now. I broke down and bought the ARF of the TF GS Corsair. I am looking forward to the build!

Thanks,
Austin

Hi Stevegauth30,

I did! I'm a mentor to high school students for Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM). I'm involved in the CT Corsair Project and each year we have a different part on the airplane that we ask the high school students to analyze, develop, and complete an engineering research project. The program is sponsored by Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation.

Here are some related links with some cool pictures. The CT Corsair Project is based in Chester Airport at 61 Winthrop Rd, Chester, CT 06412. Very cool place. Got to see a working radial engine up close.

I've tried many times to volunteer on that project, but it seems that unless you know someone, or have an education in aerospace engineering, they don't let you. At least they didn't let me. By far my favorite warbird.

Hi Guy's just a note that my Giant F4U Corsair took to the sky on Saturday June 28 and met it's demise about 1 minute into the flight.
Cause is unknown. But it was as if the down elevator command was given. I am currently assembling the ARF version of Top Flite's
F4U. There will be some modifications for a more scale look. I'm not giving up on this bird yet. John T.

On posting pictures I have to remember the size. The ones I wanted to post are too big. So will try again. John T.

Geez, I don't know which is worse. To loose an airplane you've flown a while and became attached to, or your case, to put all that time and effort in and only get a minute flight in return. Did it fly well for a minute and then go in? Or did it go up, and straight down? Sorry for all the questions. Just curious.

Well It went this way. Weather was great. Took off to the west into the wind made my turn to go east then turned back to the west.
Got to the west end of the field and down it went. As I said earlier it was as if the down elevator command was given. Left a big hole.

I am just using a standard S-148 slaved to the rudder channel.

working on a parts list for a new build.
planning to go with futaba 9156s for the ailerons, elevators and rudder.
trying to decide between 3305s and 9156s for the flaps. thoughts?

also, does the robart control box come with the retracts, or is that purchased separate?

thanks
tony
