Here's a few shot of mine in the air. I ripped the retracts out of her last season, I do not think the wing can take any more repairs. She had a good run.

I'm not sure. Usually if I plan on a major build like this, I like to build something I haven't built before. I did enjoy this kit, and she was one of only a few Corsairs around, so maybe later this build season, or next, I'll get a list of parts together and get them ordered....(unless someone already has a parts list.. Lol)

Looks are deceiving , but the mind is willing and the body is telling me a different story. So I got to use it or loose it. We have a great club and the buddy fliers that I have they all ways are willing to help.
Cheers Bob T
PS I lived in the San Diego area 1934 thru 62 and still have family there.

Hey RT,
You are an inspiration, I wish I have as much energy as you have.
that starting bench that your Corsair is sitting on must be a popular item we have them at our fields as well.

(That starting bench)
Our club had one for about 6 years and some tables, but about 2 seasons back the club decided we needed more so we built six, because of our small pitts area it gets a bit crowded at times so we did those for safety, we still have some ground stations, and once you have your engine running you move it TO the run up area just in front of the pitts
The one I use most of the time is about 6 inches wider then the ones made to the orignal plans as it fits the wider stance of the warbirds
Thanks guys for the complements

Bob,
You were asking in a different thread about NCIS's builds he had going. The 1/4 scale was purchased by someone you may be familiar. Jeff Queesenberry from Minneapolis. I have the 1/5 Top Flight and have worked on it to some degree. Jeff is shooting for next year with his build as am I. My motivation has wavered plus I went squirrel and took on a PICA Spitfire rehab. The wing is in half. Here a a couple of pics of my one step forward and 2 steps back on the Corsair.

Hi Z
I have met Jeff when he flew at the old tri-vally field. H will do the big bird justice as he is a great builder/
Well from the pic's I see what you mean, never was a fan of planking, but I do think it can be made to be serviceable and a great flier.
Mine flies vary good on a G-62 @ 32lbs.I does all of the maneuvers the real thing does, just not a lot of vertical.
Please keep us posted on your progress no matter how slow.
Cheers Bob T

Wow. This has got to be the longest and most thumbed Corsair build ever. For someone who is considering either the Brian Taylor Corsair (I already have plan and short kit) or the Topflite Giant Scale version... can anyone tell me how scale is the outline on the Topflite version. I have reviewed the PDF manual which convinces me the TF model is much simpler to build than the Taylor version and looks to be considerably 'stronger' for those slightly less than perfect arrivals.
Any advice greatly received. Many thanks.

Don't know if you have looked a the first post with a sort of index, it can be a big help.
The T/F lines are ok kinda !, from what plans bits I have collected the markuta (spelling) plans are the best that said the T/f Rudder shape is way off the line from the wind screen to the lip of the cowl is off a long the top of the fuse, when looking at the wing profile from the front, from rib T-5 to the tip the underside is way off but all can be corrected during a build. My knowalage of the scale corsair is limited the books photo's and plan bits I have.
If you are into scale I would look up a modeler that goes by Chad-Vich about 3years back he and a group trying to do an exact scale and as I recall they even had some great dwg's made that you could get copies of.Chad was selling the stab and elevators as a kit. and like I said in post 9459, I am certain I could take out at least 24 oz's. if I was to build another. But I will finish my repair on my current bird and be satisfied as it flies fine
Hope this answers some of your questions

The T/F kit is an easy build but can turn out HEAVY, so look at the arf's and mimic some of the things they have done to cut down on the weight

Bob,
Many thanks for your prompt reply. Maybe I will need to build both!!! (If only I had the time). Temptation is to do the TF version (as I understand they fly really well) with a careful eye on the Brian Taylor plan to modify bits here and there if the shape looks off. Merry Christmas.

My .02 cents if it is worth that much. If your expectation is to end up with a model that has the same level of scale fidelity as the Taylor airplane then you would probably be better off to build the Taylor from the start. Their will be very few, if any, areas of the Top Flite kit that could be left unmodified I'm afraid.
