Thanks George and Bob,
I stretched Saran Wrap over the wing and taped it down tight. Cut all my pieces of cloth. Tomorrow after work I plan on spraying it down with Pam and then laying up the doors. (got the Saran Wrap/Pam idea from the dual corsair build on RCSB)
I appreciate your input!

Well, so far my lay up for the gear doors looks pretty good. Crossing my fingers in 24 hours I'll have a hard shell of fiberglass.

The glass lay up turned out great! I'm very happy with it.

Also, the dry transfers I ordered from Pro-Mark arrived and they are very nice. I noticed Mike Radu used Pro_mark so I just asked if they still had that file. They did so all I needed was an extra set with Bu number I'm using, some Japan kill flags and Lt R M Hanson for under the canopy frame.
Now that I have these on hand I've got the needed motivation to keep going and get this bird in paint this spring/summer. Still a long way to go.

Yeah, this build has been going on for far too long. I just got back to working on it in March when I really could have been all winter long. Now we're back into spring and I've got way to many other things that need to get done.

Since laying up the glass for the landing gear doors went really well I decided to try my luck at making a canopy frame. The PVA mold release worked great. This is actually a canopy from Ziroli. It's a little bigger than the TF canopy but I think it looks better and also allowed me to add some balsa to the top deck and make that little "hump" behind the canopy.

I'm really happy with the way the canopy frame came out. Still have to finish sanding to the lines and some touch up but I like it.

I ordered the Iflytallies instrument panel over a year ago when I first got back on this build. I set it aside and just recently got it out to test fit. As others had mentioned it looked wayyyyy to big for this plane but I was quite surprised that it's actually a perfect fit! I was sweating it out. I thought I'd have to build a larger Corsair just to use the instrument panel... OK, fine...I want to build a larger one anyway!

Does anybody else have problems with private messages? I tried to send to one to Chad V and Chandley today but nothing shows in my sent folder. Also some of you have sent private messages to me with tips. I do respond but I'm not sure they get sent either.
thanks
Steve

I made a custom seat..or should say semi custom. It started out as an iflytailies seat but it was too big for this plane. I narrowed it by about about 3/4" and then changed the side profile to look like the Corsair. I also made the seat mount out of some brass and plastic. I didn't bother making the entire seat mount frame as it will never be seen. I just wanted the top bar to drape the seat belts over. Just need to shoot some primer and paint and it's good to go.

I did receive both of your messages Steve, just so you know. I did not get an email notification from RCU though so I guess I may need to check my settings. Glad you were able to use the IFlyTailies instrument panel in your bird.

If anyone is building a CompARF or other 1/4.5 scale Corsair and would be interested in a highly detailed seat and rudder pedals for it please drop me a line. I've got these items that I built for a project which got cancelled and I have no need of them myself. Currently finished in gray but I can redo them in the proper interior green color if a deal is reached.

Great looking seat and peddles Chad. I'm glad you got my PM's I wasn't trying to rush anybody, I really seemed like they weren't getting sent.

George, once you click on "reply" you can also just click on the picture icon (to the right of the globe with the red x)
then click "basic uploader" and from there you search your files for the photo you want to insert then hit upload.
that's the way I've always inserted pics.
