Hi George
That bird looks Great, You have done good, now the question is how does it fly, have you flown it yet.
So now what are you working on? Not just slacking I hope.

Hi Bob,
on exhaust, I was looking at the Keleo creations, but I don't think they have a exhaust for the Zenoah engines but it would be nice,
I would like to change my exhaust but to still have it exit at 3 & 9 o' clock. I may have to look more closely at this

You would most likelly have to furnish a mock up of what you want, as that is what I have done with good results.
If you need more info E- Mail me [email protected]

Hi all-
While not very far along, still working on tail feathers, I had to do some spray painting so I thought I would prime my fiberglass specialties cowl. I went thru several of the posts here and still have a few questions, if someone can help.
I bought this cowl a couple of years ago and the marking in it looks like TF-200 although it could be 20D. I didn't keep the receipt. The cowl has cowl flaps and an air scoop.
But anyway, it does have cowl flaps and first question is:
should they be cut apart? Is leaving them as is and painting OK?
should the cowl flaps be painted a different color than the rest of the cowl?
While I have tried to follow the attachment issue, can someone perhaps post a picture or two showing me how they did attach this?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks-
LARRY

The cowl exterior skin is usually different from the interior. Usually the color inside is a yellow zinc chromate or bare metal. If you cut them apart from the cowl in order to present a scale appearance you will want to back them with a thin sheet material in between the segments. Mechanically there are pivoting arms that drive the skin flaps in and out and that's what the second inner skin represents.
Which attachment issue are you asking about?
On my Corsair I split the flaps from the cowl completely and made them functional in one version and static in a second version. The cowl was attached to the cowl flap ring which was more sturdy and reliable than the stock assembly. If you make them functional you will find they require maintenance and have to be sturdy. There's a lot of vibration, heat, and air pressure inside and out.

Hi-
Well I think I haver the basics. I thought there was an issue regarding attachment of the fiberglass cowl to the fuse but need to re-read the manual and look at the plans again.

Steve, I'm sorry, I didn't forget you, but didn't find the issue of High Flight you were looking for where I thought it was, and then I got busy. I finally got to digging through boxes this weekend and can't find any issues between 1995 and 2002, so I guess I don't have it after all... apologies...

Well sometimes I just can't help myself...even though the Corsair is still a long way from finished, I've decided my next build will be an F6F Hellcat. Either a Ziroli or Jerry Bates. I'm not sure yet. I'm trying to read up on both. It might be hard to find a cowl and canopy for the larger size Jerry Bates Hellcat on this side of the "pond".

While I can't offer any opinion on your engine choice I can say this TF Giant kit is a pretty straight forward kit to build. Tons of help and suggestions on here and you can scale it out as much as you like. I had planned on just building the kit per the plans...looking back, if I had known I'd want to get deep into scale I probably would have built from plans. It's still a nice kit and I think it will look great once finished.

Yeh, not interested in building the stick kit,,,too much time was planning on an ARF. Top flite or ESM, etc,,not sure which one yet. I was originally going to put the ASP400 in a TF P-47 but decided against the extra work to get it to fit in the cowl and do not want anything sticking out of the cowl.
I plan on buying a Moki for my Ziroli Hellcat but want to try a less expensive radial to get the "feel" of radials before I plop all that cash down on a Moki. So, the Corsair has a nice big round cowl to try a radial out in but kinda undecided on what Corsair ARF to buy.
By no means am I comparing the ASP to a Moki by any means just to be clear.

I haven't.
I'm still working on mine though I haven't done anything worth posting about. The cockpit pieces are all fitted. I hope to finish painting them this weekend though they obviously won't be installed til the end. I've been working on adding non functional boost and trim tabs to the elevators. I also hope to be covering those along with the rudder and ailerons this weekend as well.
In between I've been looking over the Ziroli Hellcat plans, I haven't gotten the Jerry Bates plans yet but he said they were shipped.
Have a good Memorial Day weekend everyone and I offer my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all who served and those who continue to serve. Thank you!

I've never attempted this level of scale detail before so most of all this is new to me. That being said, here is my attempt at detailing and "weathering" the cockpit. I wanted it to look like it has more than few dogfights under it's belt. Probably went overboard on a few areas but overall I'm happy with it. The headrest is a piece of soft balsa wrapped with a swatch of black leather I found at AC Moore.
