Hi John.
You can easily make the photos smaller...depending on what computer you have. Save copies of the photos in a new folder so if you make a mistake you don't loose the originals. Then open each new photo with whatever programme you have to view them and 'right' click and 'save as' but make the size smaller.. about 600kb is usually ok down to 250kb...

work in the hanger has slowed down for me. Busy doing "summer" things and I've been doing some cabinet / shelf work for my daughter in her house. Hopefully I'll get back in the shop next weekend. I'm at the point of shaping the tail section.
enjoy your summer guys. Happy flying

Good lookin bird John!
I got to spend some time in the hanger this weekend. Got the tail section shaped and layed up the fiberglass for tail wheel doors and an access hatch on the front side of fuse. Also finished sanding the the canopy frame. That's ready for primer.. I'm getting there.

Stuck on wing center section
OK Guys-
I've completed the tail feathers per the manual with no issue.
Have the center section of the wing main spar complete along with the ribs all attached.
I'm at the point of attaching the balsa TE assembly on to the aft end of the ribs (step 18 of the manual).
I'm really having a hard time with the fit up. There may be a little warp in the TE assembly but hard to discern.
I'm sure that I did not get these long ribs exactly at 90 degrees (tough to measure in there) but I have to be close.
I am having a tough time getting everything to line up.
If I start at the end ribs then some ribs in the middle don't line up and the same is true for starting at the center and working out. Twisting the TE assembly a hair seems to help some.
Any hints or help would be appreciated on this fit up.
Larry
I guess I can try and work backward getting a few ribs attached then attach the TE and then glue in th e remaining ribs--but a lot of back work.

My comments may be a bit late, But the first thing I would recommend is mark the C/L on the three center section pieces, then trace one side on plain white paper, flip the piece over and make sure they match (not a pencil line differance . then tack glue in the ribs so they can be adjusted as necessary, note the most important rib placement are ribs 5 each side and I & 2 each side once you have them in right with no twist or warps the rest you can install and adjust as necessary, and add the doublers. I found this way gets you a good straight center section
Just my 2pennies worth

Bob-
Thanks for replying--appreciate it--
unfortunately much of that train has left the station---I can debond the ribs which I used CA on, but the center and doublers were all epoxied. It's live with that or get/make new pieces.
I think I might just go ahead and build the rest of the wing (since it is more conventional) and mate that up to the center and see how I can get a good match.
I am not sure how it will all fit into the fuse but may have to get that section of the fuse built as well --YUCK!!!
I don't know of a good way to tell if the wing is slightly warped or twisted but will see what I end up with.
I've got another plane (ARF) that came with a warped right wing, the manufacturer (Aero-Works) acknowledged the problem but admitted it was too costly to fix so the plane flies with 18 clicks of aileron/rudder trim (Why I won't ever buy from them again).
I suppose that's about the worst that can happen but I am quite concerned about the fit up into the fuse if it is warped.
Thanks again-
Larry

Ok Larry as I don't know what your building skills are, So hear is what I would do.
Make sure your bench top is flat and Level, then put a center line on the back the rear spar and then on the front of the front spar at ribs as mentioned above , then set the center section on your bench if you have some bean bags weight it down a bit so it cant move, then you can measure up from the bench top to the lines you have made, if the dimensions are the same side to side you are good to go, If not I would list the parts and talk to tower they may be able to furnish them. if not I would disassemble what you have save the spars and remake the ribs
I hope this make sense to you if not pm me and I will try to make a sketch for you
Cheers Bob T

Thanks Bob-
Building skills are good (not great) this being my third "kit" plus many ARFS and repairs of course.
Not afraid to cut and paste so to speak.
I will PM you as I am not sure I am following.

Hey RT,
Did my preflight and set and rechecked my control throw, checked the balance and everythings a Go, and wouldn't you know I put it new flap servos and I got one defective,so everythings on hold until my hobby shop get it in perhaps the end of the week.Someone once said to me if it wasn't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all
but I can definitely see light at the end of the tunnel

I know the feeling. I've got 1 flight on my Corsair but every time i go out to the field it's a cross wind. Either North or South At times it's down the runway
but it changes very fast. The wind Gods have to get it right some time. It may be winter before they do. John T. F4U Corsair Brotherhood #96

Hay John
Our field is small but I have found that ones you brake ground, your bird will weather vane into the wind. as long as it is not more than as its about 30 degrees, but landings can be a bit tricky.
I still have not finished my paint to much family stuff and now going on a bit of vacation so will check back when we get back for all of the news
Cheers Bob T

Hi Guys--Can someone provide some guidance on fuse pushrod guide tubes--I'm a bit confused.
So-My questions are:
Q1: Are guide tubes needed or recommended for the tail wheel pull pull system?
Q2 There are 5 holes for guide tubes (or wires) in F5, 3 holes for guide tubes in F6 and F7 and 2 holes in F8, F9 and F10. It looks to me that more holes are needed or the placement needs to be different depending on what goes where. I assume that rudder guide tube ends at F9, elevators at F10 and pull pull at F9 as well. Is that all correct?
Q3: Can someone post a pic (or point me to a previous pic in the thread that shows the routing of these guide tubes and pull pull cable through the fuse)?
Thanks-
Larry

About the holes I redrilled what I needed to get as straight lines as possible I found most of what was in my kit was not useable, I also did most of that before sheeting the lower half of the fuse.
Hope this helps
Cheers Bob T
PS I will look in my old folder and see if I have any pic's that might help

Thanks for the info Bob--Having learned while building the 60-90 size P47 I haven't started sheeting at all.
I understand about the elevators not exactly sure what you meant about stacking the rudder/tail wheel, a pic would really help.
Did you run the wires before sheeting? Did they clear all the formers OK?
Thanks for the help-
Larry
