Get Along. Exactly like it says David the picture was easy to see. Especially when I down loaded it to my pictures file and it was the right size.

Here is a comparison between the covered in fabric and the ones covered with wood glassed and painted .The details are much more crisp in the painted version . Down side it is the painted version is some what heavier

Bob the Differance will be around 75 to 80 grams 2 3/4 ounces .Alot more than i wanted but the look is so much better and if i would have used balsa it would have been lighter but not near as strong .

Yes i used 1/32 ply core with most of that cut away then 1/64 on top .I used the ply because i didnt think the 1/16 ounce balsa i had would hold up beeing that it didnt have much of a core just a strip that went around the edge but after i got it built like this i realised i could stand on them and they would hold up Realy not happy with the weight [:@]

RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair
I have a question and was wondering if anyone could answer it for me. I'm replicating a French Navy Corsair. I don't know what model it was but it has a hump on the spine just behind the rear bulkhead of the cockpit. I am duplicating this in order for it to be true to scale. I heard something about these being used in Korea and they were F4U-7's. Does anybody know what the model is and why they have that hump unlike the American Corsairs? Here is a picture so you can see the hump I'm duplicating and how I've duplicated the best I can. Does anybody know where I can get a clear canopy made 1/4 scale like the one on this Corsair?
Thanks,
Gibbs

Gibbs, the "hump" comes from a canopy modification starting with the F4U-5 series, the AU-1s and the F4U-7 types that the French had....... More head room i suppose.
The French -7s were not used in Korea , but rather based in Algeria, Tunisia, & North Africa as well as being aboard two French aircraft carriers.
The French did fly AU-1 Corsairs on loan from the U.S. in the famous seige at Dien Bien Fu in Viet Nam 1954 .
Can't help ya' with the canopy,........ better start on a mold.!
