Mike,

I use 1/64th inch Chart Pak tape. I'll look and see who I got it from if that would help you.

MIKE I used the gloss...it dosen't matter because after the final coats you peel off the tape and leave the imprsssion of the panal line anyway....

Mike I am with RCpilot78

Just one comment atfer you get the primmer on litely hit the top of the lines with some 220 it lets the tape pull alittle easyer.

OK, so to continue the conversation, what are we using for primer over the tape to make the lines?

I use Kroylon spray can primer....but you can use any popular brand primer...even automotive primer whatever is compatable with your final paint color...

Mike,
I found and this depends on the primer your using that sometimes if you pull the tape up to soon it has a tendency to leave some of the adhesive in the groove of the line, but its no really big hassel.
What I did in some of those stubborn areas was to use a Qtip & a dab of alcohol,(rubbing) to remove the adhesive, you can also use a little dab of Acetone also. Like I said this is what I found, just my $.02 worth but if you do any of the above be certain the primer is dry

My two babies side by side except when the TF GS Corsair is hiding behind his big brother. Both to be F4U-5N flown by Guy Bordelon. I love them both. Maybe in 3 to 5 years they will fly.

Just got my DaddySam tailwheel and he certainly does nice work!

He even included a helpful tip sheet along with it which will be great for an amateur kit builder like me....

Thanks Sam!

I bought this Evercoat putty today but think I got the wrong type. Is this right or is there a different type of Evercoat that I should use to fair out my fuse before and after glassing? It needs to work on balsa and fiberglass.

I don't know about the evercoat but I would use the light wieght spackel it sands more like balsa and you wont have the dips and hollows yo will most likely be sanding about 90 % off anyway but all automotive stuff is heavy, but I don't no if that is of a concern

Just my 2 cents worth

Barry, if you're filling balsa then use lightweight spackle or balsa filler. If you're making fairings on fiberglassed surfaces I use "Blaze Glaze" automotive putty. It comes in a white and blue tube and cures in about 10 minutes. If you're filling the weave of fiberglass I like to use Bondo Spot Putty thinned with laquer thinner. It brushes on and sands like a dream
Hope that helps.

Bob,

I bought the Evercoat because someone on here or the scale forum said it was the best and most litewieght filler he has used and is better than anything else. Of course weight is always a concern especially with my big bird. It is going to weigh a lot and I want to cut that down as much as possible. I don't like spackling because I have never had good results with it when I spread it on it doesn't want to stick to the balsa evenly no matter if it is perfectly cleaned with acetone or denautured alcohol. Tell me your secret and I'll try it again.

Barry
