Great photos and video! It's great to see these builds come to the point where they fly. Gives the rest of us hope that it may happen to us! Keep up the good work.

A friend just offered me a Saito 450 Radial NIB for $900.00. Would this provide enough power for this bird.? Also, It does weigh 17 oz more than a G-62 so how will the balance work out?

Thanks

I've heard the same thing and although I've not seen one in this particular Corsair I have seen one about the same size fly with that engine and it really sounds nice and seemed to do okay powerwise, but you're gonna need a BIG fuel tank....[X(]

A G-62 will probably burn about 1 1/4 oz. per minute on average, that Saito will probably burn three times that much.

Kelly, Congrats man. That's a big one to have behind you. Great landing too. That HAD to feel good taxiing back and killing the engine in the pits. I hear you on the heart-beating business. I've made some great landings that totally have NOT felt like they looked. [X(][X(] Was fun to watch. Nice bird. My own maiden awaits the weather getting warmer here. Hope my success is similar.

Kelly,

Great job flying & landing, I say like Mike(wulf190) must be a nice feeling to kill the engine in the pits.

Nice to see some Corsairs in the air. I have mine back on the bench to finish up. The wing is done and glasses and the fuse is nearly ready for glassing. I should have her airborn in a couple months just in time for the really good weather. I'll start posting my work also as before.

BTW, I am looking for a used trailer for hauling planes if anyone knows of anything within reasonable driving distance.

I hope to get up to the RCSCALEBUILDER fly-in this year. Wulf, you went last year right? I was thinking that was in June.

Our club flyin is at our local airport this year. It is June 20th It should rock! It is sponsored by the park district and the airport. They are planning a car show in the lot that day also. Living this close to Champaign we are sure to see some sponsored pilots. Mike McConville flys at our field several times a year and I am pretty sure we picked a date around his competition schedule. Concider this a formal invite to any who wishes to attend. It is always cool to put a face with a RCU id!

Nah not yet....

Still need a couple of things like wheels since Aerotech went out of business I'm not sure what I'm going to use and I'd like one of the Solo props if someone picks up that business as I've heard.

Biggest problem is that my "hangar" is so small that I can only work one model at a time so if I start the Corsair, it'll wind up getting moved in and out when something else breaks or needs work. I don't have anyplace to put that big of aa partially assembled model right now, especially moving it around all the time is an issue as well.

Still trying to get this house and the seven acres it sits on sold and look for something with a full basement I can convert into a bigger work space. If that doesn't happen by next winter, I guess I'll have to see if I can figure out a place to put the thing if I need the "hangar" for another model.

I'll include a couple of pics of my Edge sitting on the bench and I think you'll see what I'm up against right now....[]

I know they are kinda ratty but check with your local U-haul center I know they sell there box units off avery so often. I have no personel experince but have been told take a leaf out of the springs and run with just 28 psi in the tires to soften the ride and they work ok but you have to strap every thing down

Just a thought

I want to thank everybody for the word of incouragement and Comments. This has by far been the most time and sweat (and tears) I've ever put in a build.

Enjoyed the fellowship. I'm not leaving the thread, just saying THANKS EVERBODY!!

I put a few more flight on her today. Everything went fine. I be at a fly-in Sat. I let you all know how it goes.
Later,
Kelly

Been a while since I posted. I've been real busy at work and finding time to change out my fold servos. Finally managed to get it done! Here are a couple of pics and a link to the final version of my fold. [link=http://www.rcuvideos.com/video/Corsair-Folding-Wing]Wing Fold Completed[/link] Now panel lines and paint!

Congrats Kelly....awesome job on your Corsair...I'm hoping to have mine ready for the spring.

George, we've seemingly had a couple of nice flying days already. But I'm not prepped to go again obviously. I have to pick up an RX for my bird at Toledo, and still have to balance it and set my throws and fuss with my tailwheel. I'll have it at the field in May though. Devs, yeah, I went to the RCSB event last year. Some really unbelievable planes there. I'm in charge by default for the next RCSB mission for a couple of reasons (one being the untimely passing of our original event organizer). It may take me a while to figure it out. This said, the Wheeler, IN warbird day is worth the trip for you. My buddy and I usually fly there now, and there's always a hot selection of really nice planes and talented modelers at an awesome field. I've wanted to come south to check things out somewhere....but so many events and so little time. I'll have the Corsair in tow this year though, and my new 109 and a couple new 190's to maiden yet...should be a fun summer...I've been busy.

Amaud

Both choice's will work, I chows the 11/4 size only becouse the back plate nearly matched the dia of the hub on my G-62. but to get the look I wanted my buddy turned a new back plate there are pic'e back in the thread, as I remember around page 100

Chris, your setup looks fantastic. I don't mean to nay say when asking you if the weight of your bird is worrisome to you? It seems like from what others have found, and from what I've seen, it should still fly well at 35lbs or close to it. Mine is certainly not light, but I'm at 26 pre-balanced, so I'm sure I'll be close to 30 when that's added. I haven't seen any TF Corsairs over 34 though, so am kind of curious to see how she does. Sure is a fantastic looking ship.
