Default Top Flite spinners

Does anyone know why Tower Hobbies/Top Flite has discontinued their spinners for the Spitfire and P-40 Warhawk? It's also noted that the same thing happened with the C.B. Tatone 3 1/2" P-40 spinners.[:@]

I don't know why they quit the production, but my TF P-40
plastic spinner has broken apart at full throttle of YS120 4
stroke.
So I replaced it with Dave Brown aluminum one.
I'm not sure but I don't recommend TF plastic spinner for
4 stroke engines.
I found CBA P-40 3 1/2" red spinner at LHS in Bakersfield,
CA last month. Got it at a single glance.
CBA is more durable than TF because of the alumimun back
plate and the elastic plastic cone.

Good grief, no one comes to Bakersfield this time of year! Its only about a million degrees outside! What shop did you go to? I started buying balsa at B&F about 1979. I have the Top-Flite spinner for the P-40. Am not happy to hear it wont stand up to the four strokes. I have a Saito 1.20 for mine. Will run it when the time comes, and see what happens. Years ago I ran a plastic, with aluminum back plate spinner on a House of Balsa .40 size P-51. I think it could have been a CBA. It worked good, and survived the final crash. Too bad Top-Flite seems to only make a limited run of accessories for thier kit line.

I bought it at Racers Haven Hobby Shop (White Lane).
That CBA 3 1/2" P-40 red was the last one. I will use it for H9 P-40.
I visited Bakersfield last month on business.
I saw YS FZ110 in a window case at $320 when I visited there in April
and I was planning to get it this time, but it had already been sold out.
TF P-40 spinner was OK for OS FS120 Surpass3, but came apart after
I replaced the engine with YS120SC. I'm not sure how it would be with
Saito 120.
The cause I think is that YS run with higher rpm than OS.
Dave Brown 4" standard spinner is not bad for TF P-40.
Racers Haven have not too many items in stock , but get ordered items
in stock very shortly. The staffs are also very friendly and honest.
I like this shop.
As for TF, I agree with you, we have to get accessories at the same time
we buy a kit not to miss them later.

Right now I have the red, black, and white CBA spinners for my P-40 and P-39. I noticed that when Top Flite discontinued the Gold Airacobra kit, Tower dropped the white 3 1/2" CBA spinner also. Since Top Flite is producing the Spitfire and Warhawk kit they would still offer the spinners unless most people now prefer a spinner with cutouts for the three blade props and sales have dropped that much? I don't know......

I have TF Spitfire, FW190, P-47, AT-6 and Bonanza unbuilt in box.
I don't know if Spifire,FW190 and Bonanza has their spinner come
with. I didn't look up the content entirely in the box.
Any way, I miss CBA spinners. Coloring would be needed for aluminum
spinners for most cases, but CBA wouldn't.

I use Racers Haven also. They are big into the RC buggy scene. They can get items in-store fast. Prices are pretty good too. I ckecked thier price on the Robart gear for the T F Bonanza three weeks ago and it was $259 out the door. Tower runs, what #308.oo, plus shipping? I got my P-40 spinner about nine months ago, and had to order it in. I thought they would still be available...Forget about the 75 gal. drop tanks. I was fortunate enough to find two, new in the bag on e-bay about a year ago. If you ever come back to Bakersfield and want something to be in the hobby shop, let me know and I can request it for you. I work out at the airport, and the other Racers Haven is only a few minutes away.

Regards, Richard

Yes, they offer pretty good prices.
I bought H9 P-40 for me and P-51 Miss America for my friend
on April at Racers Haven for $199.99 each.
Both are not yet available in Japan.
I've never seen below $200 for them before.
Thank you for your kind words, probably I will visit Bakersfield
again next year on April.
The weather of Bakersfield in Summer is very hot, however
humidity is less than that of Japan, so " Dry Hot" is not so bad
for me.
