RE: New 81" P-47 ARF coming from Hangar 9
Well, in light of the March availability announcement, just spoke w/ my LHS and cancelled the order I've had pending since September for this P47. I decided if its US availability date keeps slipping at least one month each month, I'm better off waiting for the Top Flite Staggerwing that's also in the pipeline. Might even get that one sooner. BUT I did order the new Hanger 9 RTF J-3 Cub. That's supposed to come in later this month. I sure hope so.
Best of luck to you all w/ the P47. Maybe after it finally gets on the market I'll be able to find one, if the fire's still burning....

See if you can find out if there's any truth to the rumor that's been out there for nearly a year that World Models is developing an 80"+ Corsair.

Col,
Sounds great. Can you tell us the diameter of the wheels??
Photo's of your build with the G38 would be sweet too.

I didn't buy one. My LHS ([link=http://www.rcwarehouse.com.au]RC Warehouse[/link]) kindly allowed me to check out the contents.
I will attempt to do so again and take some piccies for the forum. In the meantime I have posted some basic pics [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_3727111/anchors_3727111/mpage_1/key_hangar%252Cp47/anchor/tm.htm#3727111]here[/link]
Unfortunately P47's are not my "cup of tea". An FW190 of this size would get my attention though.

Maybe that shipment that got pulled back from the UK took a wrong turn on it's way home??

Looks like they arrived down under already. Guess it is a shorter distance to Austrailia than to the USA.

I know the people in my LHS and know that they are telling the truth as they know it but I do not know whether the distributor was honest with them or not.
I do know that they have sold two in the first week after taking delivery and that those went to two very experienced large model people so we will know in short order if there are any quality concerns.

I just went through the forums related directly to this H9 1.50 size P-47 ARF (yeah, I have cabin fever real bad!) and calculated some interesting stats:
17,969 hits
348 posts
And only one guy (that I can tell) has received his.
I hope the manufacturers realize the enormous level of interest in giant scale warbird ARFs.

From what I have read on RCU and different forums, World Models has been taking other peoples designs and making them their own. Aeroworks Ultimates are now Chip Hyde's Ultimates and not their own model after their design was shall we say misappropriated by WM. I read here a post by someone who works for them that the first shipment had quality problems, so World Models is selling them. From guys at the field who have had their models they say the quality is suspect, plus Stevie Wonder can see that the models that they are selling were the exact ones that were on Aeroworks site. Right down to the exect color scheme and everything. Looks like the Kanata has the same exect color scheme also. I will not do business with people like that.

HMMMM, Lets' figure this out. Delivery to the land down under has already occured with an obvious "okay" shipment, and shipment to the U.S. is now delayed to mid-march. If my memory serves me correct, the transit from Coronado, Ca. to Japan on an LST (long slow target) in the USN was 9 days. And that included "Gator Squares" doing mock-up amphib assaults. I can't figure the numbers!

That is in part correct. We ship all of our orders to overseas customers directly from our factory. Getting them in the US then shipping would add too much cost in shipping. There are a few of the P-47 that have been shiped and realeased in Aust and Europe. The quantity was not nearly enough to release it in the US.
We do not realeade a model until we have enough to fill all orders at once. If we operated differently it would make the LHS who didnt get one, very justifiably upset.

Mike, I'm not giving up on mine. It should be worth waiting for, besides I've got plenty others to keep me busy. One Question, The one you flew with the Saito, did you have to add any Wt. for balance. I prefer Gassers and have a G-26 and a G-38. If it needs Wt. with the 26 I'll use the 38 instead. I LIKE G-38s. I put that question to the LHS. They assert that the stock here came directly from the factory in China and were not rejects from another country's shipment.

Reading this thread and seeing the comments sounds like sex, all the anticpation, the build up to getting "it" and then the lack of interest once it has been obtained........kinda funny [sm=spinnyeyes.gif]

Could anyone please help an Englishman overcome his frustration by giving me some info on the p47 review in the Feb ModelAirplane news. I cannot get a copy in England and wondered if someone could scan and post it. If not just a brief summary would do. Thanks

Now, if Mr Hangar 9 suggests that this model will be followed by a similar sized (and equiped) FW190A, Zero, Typhoon (another poster's suggestion) or even a Ki 84 "Frank" then the anticipation level on this end would be great indeed and I can guarantee there would be no lack of interest on arrival. (though a lack of money in my pocket would surely result)

RE: New 81" P-47 ARF coming from Hangar 9
I started following this thread after reading the article in Model Airplane News. I was positive this was my next plane but I just can't wait until March! However, I am sure I will purchase one but I have the need to buy a plane sooner as I am planning to be off for a couple of weeks in February and I want to have a plane to work on.
So my question is, what Warbird ARF is there that is even close to this plane? One that is IMAA legal, has Oles, Flaps, Retracts, and just looks great!
Got any ideas?
