RE: Labor Day : Who's Going to Muncie ??
Sorry to hear that Carey.. I'll give you a little stick time on my 47 if you like.....just ask.
Hey, the FW is alive and well with its new owner.., a little worse for wear, but still flying !
Talked with the Crooks today ( organizer). Said the weather is looking super for this event. They had almost 50 pre-registration......
Super ! Now, to just get through work ....

nothing short of fantastic.
71 pilots and about 140 planes (all warbirds, ahhhhhhh).
pic 1: I was in the middle. this pic is looking down one way of
the lineup and pic 2 is looking down the opposite direction.
If it wasn't a Ziroli, it was scratch built.
I was the only one with arf's: these planes were 8-10 ratings.
Unbelievable work and all excellent flyers and pilots.
pic 3: 4 of the eight planes flying at once:
They had 2 Corsairs, 2 B-25's, 1 british (see pic 7) twin, 1 zero,
1 skyraider and 1 p-38.
pic 4: here's 6 of them that I could get at once.
pic 5 & 6: a fantastic beachcraft in aluminum.
There were 3 of these that flew at once along with a Ziroli staggerwing,
(first biplane I've ever seen with retracts).
pic 7: unknown to me as to the model of the brit plane (you know it's big when there are two twin cylinder engines onboard!).
pic 8: I was almost tempted to buy this 131" F-82, only $1500 minus engines and
retracts.
pic 9: Carl's presidential dc-6, after he lands the plane,
a motorized steps goes to the door, the door opens and
Pres. Truman comes to the door waving a newspaper saying (Dewey defeats
Truman).
Just the highlites, what a wonderful day.
On my calendar for next year.
This is undoubtably the best warbird flyin in this part of the country.

Thank you! Yeah, my buddy was drewling all over your ME109. I think he may have talked with you a bit about it? At any rate, I was really up there to scope out Nick Ziroli's Staggerwing. (I'm in love with the Staggerwing and I am anxiously awaiting his release! I have a 64 incher in progress but Nick's plane dwarfs it!) This was the first big fly-in that I have attended. I must say I was impressed with the detail of the planes. Hopefully, in a few years I'll be able to run with you guys!

Rich.
Yea, I was drooling over your ME 109 too ! I'm gonna "copy" what you did, only in the "biggie" size ! But, it'll have to be next winters project. Got to replace the P 47 with a bigger one this year.
ps.. we missed your "scale" group at the Pilgrims ... Dodged the rain on Sat and Sunday was beyond perfect. We had a HUGE turnout of spectators ( 2000 + ). Hope to see you next year ....
