Was chasing my friends Brian Taylor ME-109 around with my P-47 today.
It is a beautiful looking model. Has great presence in the air as well as on the ground.
Uses a laser-150 and the Unitract retracts. Weighs 11lb and flies great.
Friend Tony says the flaps are very effective.

Have to try to get some video next time we are tail chasing.

Phippsa, what is your engine setup? Can you place a close up picture of your cowl?

Gary its not my model. Belongs to a friend i sometimes fly with.
I know hes using a laser 150 inverted. And i think the unitract retracts where designed specifically for the bt 109.
At 11lb it flies really well.

Somes guys watching us fly took a bit of video on there phone. I got him to bluetooth it to my phone so here it is.
Cant see much and its pretty low quality but for what its worth. The p-47 is mine.

Will do Gary.
Looking forward to seeing Tubig's model using that RCV. Should be able to swing a nice big scale 3 bladed prop.
Should look pretty cool.

I've been wanting to build a 109 in this size for quite a while, probably my favorite plane to come out of WW2. Unfortunately I've had zero luck finding a kit and having a 1 year old and 4 year old don't lend me much time to cut my own parts. Are you cutting your own parts? Or did you find a cutter for the BT plans?

Anyone know whats included in the Holman wood kit? I'm assuming it's just the parts needing cut and it's up to you to get regular stock and sheeting....or am I wrong?

just as you mention. i got just the plan parts and the sheeting i supplied myself. it's a good way to do it because then you can select your own sheeting based on your needs.

it's been a long time since i've worked on the 109 but i'm trying to do a little here and there. i've spent the last several days working on the fuselage and wing balkenkreuz, hakenkreuz and the kommore ensignia templates. the wing and fuselage balkenkreuz are now painted and i've also painted the second set of kill markings on the opposite side of the rudder.

Tim: looks Real close to that first flight. I must say again the underwing detail is impressive for lack of another word. I allways liked the Luftwaffe cameos, now, your "motting" technique, is that air brush or say a sponge??

Respectfully... honest[8D]

hi Richard,
the mottling was using a sea sponge dipped in paint. i showed it a few pages back.
