Good to see some interest in the GP P-6E. I'd built one about 8 years ago and now finally getting around to flying it. It's an EP conversion with mods and scale additions.
I don't recall if the wing brackets are different from top or if it makes any difference to the relationship of the wings. I've assembled it for the first time in a while and the right wing needed slight adjusting to fit the top brackets. I have the smaller version P-6E as well and it required attention to be certain the brackets were oriented correctly.
Thanks for the help.
Dick

The wing mounts are the same it is the N struts that need proper orientation , checked page 22 to make sure and it is what I said . But of course I built this plane last year and I could be wrong. BTW I don't use screws to hold the struts to the brackets I use Horizon Hobby cross drilled rivets with pins, make assembly a bit easier.

You will love the way this plane flies,it is great.

I know the short legs of the "N" struts must face the LE.The manual doesn't mention if the hardware brackets that connect the struts and wings are the same top and bottom. Since the manual for the larger P-6E doesn't mention anything about the brackets I guess they're all identical and interchangeable top or bottom
What made me curious was that the new, smaller 43" P-6E EP ARF manual states the wing brackets are slightly different top and bottom and it's important to orient them correctly.
Thanks boys,
Dick

Your guidance is needed please.
Looking for your experience as to which gas 2 stroke or 4 stroke motor fits the best in the cowl of the Curtiss P-6E. Also a little info on the flight/power performance for that motor.
I'm leaning towards the DLE 30 or DLE 35RA or the DA 35. I would like to minimize cutting the cowl as we all would. I'm mixed on the 4 strokers....sound cool but the performance might be an issue...not sure. I have read mixed views on the 2 v/s 4 gas engines performance.
Thanks to all!

Thank you Gentleman for the photos and feedback! Do you know of anyone installing a 4 stroke gasser? I have another question....servo ounces of torque would you use in the beauty?

Have this plane for a year now,it is the best and most relaxing biplane I ever owned, while I did power it with an Electric motor(Rimfire 1.20) it is a wonderful flying plane and rarely use more than 1/2 throttle, servos I used were Hitec 100 oz analogs with metal gears way more power than needed. Enjoy it.

Mine has a Saito 150 in it. I'm not particularly impressed with that set up as I think it could use a litte more umph, especially at our elevation (around 5,000 msl) What I am really not impressed with however, is the the fuel consumption of the big Saito....about 6 flights per gallon. I like 15% pure synthetic which runs close to 30 bones for a gallon at my LHS. I'm switching to gasoline at the next opportunity. I'm having a hard look at the EME 35, DLE 35 RA and am studying the NGH 38 Four stroker....These pictures are making the decision to switch to gas much easier, I must say...great setups.

Hopefully the EME 35 with elec start works better than my EME 55 with starter. The main starter gear failed after the first 5 starts. Mile High RC sent me another gear and told me to lube the gear with a specific lubricant. The second gear also failed after about 5 starts.
At $50 a pop I can't afford to keep replacing main gears.

Hey Guys, Been following his thread for a while as the P-6E is one of my all-time favorite planes. I left the hobby about 20 years ago and sold an un-built Royal kit that I now regret selling. Upon returning to the hobby now I was stoked to learn of the GP kit then dejected to see it was discontinued.
Persistence paid off though, I was able to find and pick up a completed plane in excellent shape with a G-26 mounted in the nose. Then I got really fortunate or better yet lucky and this weekend was able to secure a NIB example that even the plastic bags holding the parts had never been opened. I am planning on installing a DLE 35 in the new one when she gets built.
Just wanted to say hi to you guys from a new P-6E owner!

I don't recall reading anywhere in this thread; has anyone noticed that that struts on this model are located about 2 1/2" too far outboard vs. full scale, and appear to be canted a few degrees too upright? Anyone got a reference that shows this different?

Skinny Bob,
I think I have purchased your P6-e Hawk. It has Skinny Bob under written under the pilot. I live in Tennessee. Could you tell me the manufacturer of the engine, please?
