What's the best Spitfire Kit in the .40 to 1.20 range?
Fellas,
Need you advice / opinions on the stated subject. My son wants to do the Spit having watched the Battle of Britain. Scale accuracy is not an issue since he will be flying it and I want flying characteristics and ease of assembly to out weigh scale accuracy. I will be the primary builder and already have too many other scale (time consuming) projects. So let's here the skinny on Great Planes, Top Flite, Pica and the others.
Thanks in advance ......
Jeff

Hacker Spitfire
If you ask me, Hacker Spitfire would be a good choice.
It comes as a ARC kit with moulded fuse, stab and rudder and fully sheeted foam wings. It comes in two versions 1) fixed landing gear or 2) pre-cut wells for retracts. It's for a .60 to .90 engine range.
It flies very well (see RC Model World September 2001 and RC Scale International September/October 2002) and it looks the part too! (Supermarine Mk.IX with the pointy tail)
I have just started to build one myself.
Good luck,
Vasek

Look on page 19 of the January Model Airplane News. World models has a new Spit ARF. Nothing on the website yet. Being a World kit, it will probable fly "un-warbird like" (meaning very forgiving). Just a thought if time is an issue....
