No, I am looking for tubing that will fit a little tighter and then use a #8 bolt to draw the wing and center section together. Like the way Don Smith Plans show. Any advise on a better fitting wing tube?

Finally got it together. I took it over to the local airport this morning, New Year`s Day, and took these as a first effort. It hasn`t been test flown yet, that could happen later this week all going well.
The model weighed in at right on 15 lbs as shown here, but first impressions are it is nose heavy - I`ll have a good look at that before it gets tried.
Basic specs - Zenoah G-26, one piece wing. Futaba 2.4 GHz FASST radio. The elevators are joined with 1/8 steel wire staple with internal linkage to one Hitec HS-645 MG servo. Similar servo for rudder. Eurokit retracts fitted. Pilots are Great Planes SRF Stearman guys ex Tower.

I'm looking for the same tube. Let me know if you find anything and I'll do the same. Im sure glad I didnt have to go through all of that with the Sierra gear. I had to do some cutting but just of the glass skin.

Alan, You have done a great job on your AT-6 ! This just goes to show that the CMP AT-6 is a great plane to start with in order to obtain a wonderul looking 1/6th scale AT-6.

Ryon,
Are you going to use those wheels? I ask because the T6 didnt have diamond tread tires, just in case you didnt know. Install looks great! Watch out for those gear doors, they could cut your finger off

I just ordered the VMT-1 Marines AT-6 from Nitroplanes. I found some great pics of the full scale ship on airliners.net. Can't wait to start assembly. I hope to fly it at Warbirds Over Delaware this year. Happy New Year to all!

We just need to find some 3/4" OD tube for the wings. It appears that CMP used 1.5MM tube and that leaves the slack.

Hi guys,
I used a 3/4 dowel glued into the wing panels and held in trhe center section with a 4/40 bolt tapped into the dowel through the fiberglass. The bolt is only to keep the wing from sliding apart and it is really tight. I gained 2 1/2 oz for the dowels and lost all the slop from the tubes. I believe it is worth it for the strength and being able to take the wing apart. I also did the flap, however I only did the center section. It is about 19 by 2 1/4 inches. Saw a Yellow aircraft with only the center section and it performed great. Really slowed down the big bird with no adverse nosing up or down. Made the center section a Fowler flap.

It looks like CMP made a few changes to the model example the Flag is on the cowl of the model vs the fuse on the full scale. Maybe the real example was of another plane notice sn.

Also you will notice that the letters (LAT-645) is reversed , should be ( LTA-645 ) could not figure why they did that...everyone who knows the proper lettering ask me what that lettering stans for..

This is not the "original " but it seems those yellow wings and red tail seem to be of an SNJ colors of the U.S. Navy.
I did not take the pics as they where found on the www. All credit goes to the original photogs that took them.
I belive that CMP just threw in the colors without any "original full scale available" Also noticed the bands over the star on the "Scream N Rebel" is questionable.

Help please! I have a great running US 41 gasser....do you guys know if this engine will fit in this AT-6...the distance from the back plate to the rear of the thrust washer is 6"....I would really like to build this plane, but I really do not want to buy another engine just for this plane....your help will be greatly appreciated...

brxsr...I think the US41 is a bit too much for this 160 size craft...the G23 and the G26 are actually overpowering for this plane. any one out there with any comments..I would be very cautious about the weight of that engine...If it is the same weight as the G26 and It fits in the cowl than its your decision to overpower the plane...my experience with this plane with the g26 is ( if your takeoff roll is too short or too slow the torque from the g26 at full throttle will roll the plane to the left..I learned the hard way I almost lost it on the second flight It almost rolled over on its back after liftoff to short too slow....too much power......good luck RCPILOT78

bxrer, I have a BCMA 40cc on mine and it is grossly overpowered. If you do use thr 41 I would reinforce the firewall to the fuse. Thats were mine started to lose structural integrity.

I wouldn't do it. The G26 is way more power than this plane needs. As stated, care must be given to properly take off without torque induced roll. The 41 is OVERKILL!

The cowl depth is 4.5 inch or 11.1cm the cowl width is 8 7/8inch or 22.8cm
The pics have measurements on them. Hope that helps.
By the way I just noticed that the cowl on the "Scream N Rebel" has the grim reaper instead of the snake and the CMP logo.
I think I will sand it all off and find a different subject T-6 to model.
