Ordered my AT6 on black friday from nitro, started to collect parts today. Got a kick *** deal on crrc gf26i from Valley Veiw ,started to look for retracts and got a hit on centurys site but almost fell down when I saw the price. Are they trying to punish people who buy CMP products. Over100$ more than any other set of 2 wheel retracts. makes Sierra retracts look pretty cheap. Id love to hear from Century why their retracts that are obviously of lesser quality are worth 400$ when I could get Sierra's with Air kit for a little over 300$

dd56 .....I found that the Robart AT-6 gear worked the best...requires a little surgery to install not a problem..I have over 200 flights on mine and never gave me a problem...and cost I believe around $280....and don't let that price fool you they are very stout...got them from Tower Hobbies.. good luck

Surgerys no problem, been a modelchopper from way back. Are the robarts for a Midwest kit or something else. If you have a part# Id appreciate it. Also is that price for complete setup.
Thanks Tim

Yes they are the ones from the Midwest at-6.... #620's ..and when I purchased mine two years ago it included everything...you will have to check current package....and again don't fret the surgery its so easy I used my dremel tool and opened the gear locations and replaced the mounts to accomodate the Robarts with hardwood ribs..

The best gear for this airplane hands down are the Sierra units. They are very well made, Strong and they drop right in. Do some reinforcing on the gear blocks especially if you purchased the silver AT6 with the green stripes. That is not a CMP model but a copy of the CMP AT6. I think it's the best looking of the three AT6 offerings. The green striped plane is the same plane as close as I can see and I have one of each. The air valve, hoses and tank that come with the Sierra gear are all very high quality pieces too. Call Darryl at Sierra and see if he has them instock. He had them in stock when I called and I had the gear in my possession in about three days.

Yes, but not huge holes. Just big enough to get it through.

The hole I made for mine is like a rounded teardrop shape. You just need it big enough to put the round end of the plug boot straight in and then rotate it all the way through. I'll see if I can get a picture for you.

Hey all I just got off the phone with Century Jet. Called to find out why their retracts for CMP AT6 was $110 more than for Midwest AT6. Turns out price was misprint and should be $290 not $400[:'(] and its complete with air system. Ordered a set today so well see how they work out. Tim

Speedpro1,

Here's a picture for you. Sorry it took me so long. Hope this helps.
As you can see, I have the plug wire, ground wire, and tank vent all exiting through the same hole in the firewall. If you make it a rounded teardrop shape you can get the plug cap through by rotating it around the 90 degree bend in it.

The center section and wings, does all that just epoxy together? it don't look very strong.I called Sierra about rhe retracts and all I got was a recording I wonder if they are closed for x-mas?

jo jo.. the wings on my t-6 are not epoxied together..the outer panals just slide into the wing tubes and are secured with bolts...over 200 flights no wing problems the wing is strong...I wanted a three peice wing to facilitate easier transporting...If you decide on a one piece wing it will be strong....as far as Seirra being closed for holidays that dosen't sound right..maybe the day before the holiday but closed now ?????

I don't see any way of putting bolts on it the center is solid except for the dowel and wing tube holes. It looks like I will have to drill out the dowel holes to make them fit as it is.I may foam the wings and center section.

I have a question about CG. Is it inverted or upright. Also did you all cg from wing tip or spot clostest to fuslage.
