RE: All of you 109 lovers......
Jeff , Great video, makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up! I've seen the G10 before, anyone know the details on the second 109? It looks like a G2 Trop, Only airworth G2 trop I know of is black 6, also shown on the clip. As far as I know, black 6 was not to be flown following an expensive rebuild after the last rough landing. Anyone know the story?

You gotta love the sounds of engines, the Brits and the Krauts, good stuff. Kinda makes me want to go out and rent the Battle of Britain again for the umpteenth time. Boy I wish they made movies like that again with out all the CG effects.

Listening to a couple of these 109 vids in the last two weeks I have noticed they have a better , cleaner sound at idle and high idle when
taxiing on the ground. They dont sputter , crackle and pop like I'm used to hearing from the merlins and allisons.
I'm guessing this is due to the fuel injection on the DB as compared to a pressure carb on the other types.
I also love the whine of the blower, it can be heard on the ground and in flight.

Evan
You ask about Black Six.....as you already know, Black Six did have a bit more than a rough landing, in fact it ended up, upside down, in a plouged field next to the airfield. The pilot was safe, and he just happened to be an RAF Wing Commander, one of only a handful of people authourised to fly black six ( he was not the popular pilot on the air show scene for a while after that, I can tell you)
Anyway B6 was owned by the RAF Museum, and they were going to revoke her licence to fly the following year and put her on stactic display in the RAF Museum, Hendon, UK
were once repaired, she sits to this day and for ever more.
