FlyRC, the 101" Ziroli won't be as hard to fly as a smaller one! I agree it's a lot of money for a project that size but if you spread it over a year or so then it isn't so bad and then you have a LOT more airplane and a MUCH better flyer. IMHO.

FlyRC78,
By the time you build the 71" w/s B-25, you'll be amazed at how much time and money you have in it. I'm using Ryoby 31cc gassers in my B-25. These are not expensive engines. You can buy the plans, cowls and canopies from Ziroli and scratch build your 101" w/s B-25. In the end, you'll be glad to have the bigger plane, Trust Me! Good luck.

I have been working on a B17 for a year and a half almost exclusively. So for me there hasn't been anything but a B17...[X(]

I am now working on a Top Flite Spitfire and I got a H9 Extra 260 with a DA50 for "recreation"!

My next giant scale will be a B25, but for now there is only the B17! I am a B17 fan, I have a bunch of B17's all over the house (little and large) and posters, framed photos, been up in one, etc... so as you can see I am focused on B17's. Have been since I was a kid.

Rickles56,
Like I say brother, it's not a hobby, it's a sickness. Be prepared for that Big B-17 Bird to want to weather vane, espescially on take off. How about som photos of your B-17, come on, don't be shy. Good luck.

Sure Flak, I will post some photos. I have a fair amount of work yet to complete. I just finished planking the nacelles today. This is my 2nd B17, I had a 1/12th scale before this one and it went in on the second test flight. One of the flaps got hung in the down position, I didn't know it until we watched the video.

I am familiar with the weather vane effect you talked about! I am putting a gyro in this B17 to help with that. I am also using the Futaba 14MZ so may get creative with throttles one day as well. The first 5 or 10 flights will be just the 4 basic flight controls however, no crashing allowed on this one, I have way too much invested. OK some photos below... BTW, I have a build on the "other" site, RCSB under Don Smith designs if you want see all 100 pages of it. I posted photos from Sept last year thru today below...

They even tested jet engines on B17's, one model had a big jet in the nose. They would shut down all four props and fly with one jet engine on the nose. It crashed. The plane was too small to serve much purpose after the war. The B29 had so much more carrying capacity.
