Panel Layout
Started a mockup of my panel layout. I'm going to be making a panel that is real common on restored civilian mustangs these days. Once I get the layout, and everything sized correctly, I intend on using high quality images from my photographs to make the guages.

Well, haven't had much time to do anything on the project lately (darn stuff around the house needs attention). Most work that has been done hasn't been anything to take a photo of. As you can see however (above two posts), Chris has been working on the cockpit layout. He's currently drawing up some diagrams of the instrument panel as it will be cut out of very thin stainless steel with the instruments laid behind it. The next major portion of the project which we'll show is the wing sheeting and bagging process.
So, for those of you waiting - more to come soon.

Didn't realize we had a fan club =). We did make lots of progress for a short period and should startup again soon. I had a review item that had to get done for RCU, amidst haing some other things pop up, so it pushed the P-51 off of the bench for awhile. The good news is that I was able to clear the work area yesterday and put the P-51 back on the board. So, hopefully we'll see some progress this week!

I must say this post really rocks!
I am going to build a large scale mustang real soon with foam core wings etc. You two have answered a bunch of questions for me by reading your posts. The idea for the instrument panel is really cool. I will follow this one very close. Keep up the awesome work!

Mike,
I think Ralph Saxton's kits are about $200 -$300 depending on the model. $250 -$275 is what I remember this kit costing. Kit is a relative term because this is more of a short kit. Just foam, a fiberglass fuse and plans are all you get. There are panel lines in this model.

Is R Saxton hard to contact or is he out of contact sometimes? I sent an e-mail a few days ago to order one of his kits but have not heard back. Do you have a phone number? He has some neat looking fuse and plans available. Thanks Mike K.

The website is the only contact info that I have offhand. If I come up with any more, I will let you know. I believe he puts his # in with the logo on the inside of the plane, but I could be wrong. Next time I go into the shop, I'll look.

I got a phone # from information and it is not his house. Can you send phone if one is listed on the fuse. You guys made me want to try one of the kits. Mike K.
