Yeah it is like this....

Imagine building a scale fighter airplane that never flown or materialized even on paper! It is like "I just built a perfect replica of a fighter plane that only existed in my imagination!". DP

I have one of those. It`s Exact ,to Scale, and, it lives in my imaginary hanger, when, I`m not flying it ,at unimaginable speed ,of 400 mph!!LOL

Wasn't an all metal P-51 marketed back inthe late 1940's and 1950's? I remember an article about the builder.

Anyho, this guy we are talking about surfaced on RCU about two years ago, and then dissapeared.

If it were ligit I would waste a bit more time than this one post and wait to judge.

But really

If the guy really has something he is confident about , he should invest his money into promoting a working model first. If its real and good, it will sell itself and not need to be "sold".

I am really surprised that some here actually believe there may be something in what this guy says. Would you really put down even $2 "just in case"? Just look at this quote from his email to Tom: "THe plane looks just like the photos on the site." The picture on the site is that of a full-size Hurricane. How can his model be a combination of the Spitfire and Hurricane yet look exactly like a full-size Hurricane? On the RCU advertisement, he shows pictures of a scaled-down replica late-model Spitfire. So, which is it?

WELL>....Just out of CURIOSITY...I emailed him as well....I CANT STAND CON ARTISTS!! I feel this one is quite possibly one as well..

Here is OUR exchange of query and response:

QUESTION:

Mr. B. Rose;

What is a Combination of the Spitfire and Hawker hurricane look like?? is it a Spitfire fuse with Hawker wing? or does the gear retract like a Spitfire? SOunds very fantastic! I have some experience with metal...Just wondering what the weight is and also do you have any pictures of the Completed model? I am interested in this model... DO you accept Credit Cards or PayPal???
Any plans for future models such as a Bomber ??

Thanks a lot!

Tomas

ANSWER
Tomas..if you will google for morengo metal you will see a p-51 aluminum model selling at $10,000.00 The rose fire does not have retractable gear but you can add it if you have experience with metals. You will see that the retractable gear in the p-51 video is very wobbly on landings. I feel only 1/4 scale models should have retracts. No we dont accept CC or paypal...just pers checks or M.O.s (are you in the USA?) No plans for a Bomber, I will let that up to you. Bill

WEll..... never answered all the questions.... and I'd be leary since he doesnt accept PAYPAL or credit cards...only $$$/personal checks....[sm=idea.gif]

I am out!!! not sending ANY $$....would love to see pics though!!!!! THat would help with credibility!!!!!!!!!!!!

BUT ONE BIG DIFFERENCE, the Marengo metals company actually makes the P-51 Mustang and a Zero that fly and do so very well.
They are making the planes for people who actually appreciate what they make. And these are proven.
They even went so far as to get a booth ,with great difficulty ,at Toledo last year and showed their finished products.
But in the end it's what trips your trigger isn'nt it !!!!

I would not switch to metal just because the Mono-Kote cracks and falls off.

FYI..RCU only pushed that announcement made by the mfg live. that does not mean it is an endorsement for the product or company.

there was an ad in mA years ago 1970 0r early 80s where an exact scale mustang with working merlin was to be built. i saw the work at an airshow and it was exact and beautiful. the guy ran out of money for tooling up and took a lot of preorder money. no one got the money back. The metal models ive seen are crude and poorly riveted.
The mustang was exact I saw the stab and rudd and the running merlin. it was a 15000 dollar kit. back then and the guy wanted 1000 up front. look in old issues of ma YOU WILL FIND THAT AD

What's the update with Hurrispit? I heard there's an upcoming ARF release from another company called "Mustcub" (half Mustang half Cub). DP

Right....if u are going through all the trouble to create an all metal aircraft why on earth would bash 2 planes together instead of making a true scale model? DOes'nt sound right

I remember a guy taking orders for an all al. P-51 , All metal etched, and He had Lots of Pix. and It was Splatted all over RCM, back in the seventy's. it was made from
Printer plate. He had a flawless operation and took lots of orders to get on a list, and than he dissappeard to Brazil. I was never sure whether he got in over his head , or
deceit was the original intent. But from what everyone saw. it was flawless.
Anyone else remember that.

I remember that P-51. It was powered with 4 OS 120FS engines connected to a common shaft. I don't believe he ever finished a completed plane but was taking advanced orders. People sent him money on the promise of a product. His product never showed up and people were out of their $$. Caveat emptor!

Does it seem funny to anyone else that there are no pictures of the model itself? This Spit/Hurri. All I have seen are photos of full scale Spits and Hurricanes. Are they also producing a Messerstang, and a Stukacat too?
