well so far i have added 2.5" root extensions to each wing then proceeded to cut 1" off each tip to square them off. The retracts are upgraded to robarts with robo struts. The gear doors are fully functional with a servo for the inner doors and air for the robarts. Details with lines and some Top Flite parts that go with thier kit ie, charger shroud, Aeroglass cowling which was way better than the stock for outline. I replaced the canopy with the top flite one also. Looks much better!!!!! I will be flying at the louisville warbird flyin tomorrow and will do the maiden test then. The markings and detail won't be done but at least the important stuff will get a full trial flight.
Im using a Magnum 91 XL 2s with bisson muffler. Fitted at 90 deg it is totally in the cowl.

Well i didn't get it done in time for the fly-in but did have a lot of lookers and questions. The day couldn't have been any better, low sixties and light wind. Just wish i could have maiden it today but I'm not pushing. Some mod shots
[img][/img]

first is the lengthen wing dihedral brace. I used an aluminum core of .032 material and then faced it with ply front and back
next is the wing root extensions. 2.5" each and just used the wing root outline to make a new set of ribs and spruce/ply for the spar carry thru. Sheet with 3/32 with balsa fillers aft and fwd.
Wing tips were shorten by 1.25" and new rib installed. The tip has a ply core at the final outline the balsa top and bottom.
Wheel wells are closed out with balsa and the gear rails are modified to accept the Robart/Robostruts. Just routed the rails for a lower fit.

I did have both jugs at the fly-in but didn't fly. The 47D-25 was just bought from a local member and hasn't flown in a few years. It will get a maint. visit by yours truly.
The 47N-1 was looking good for all lookers. Im trying a new idea for panel lines in that the TopFlite panel pin is just too dark for a metal finish type plane. I am using sharpie markers of various colors to accent the panels. Metallic silver for a metal finish and a slightly darker color of the areas that are painted. I'll post more on this tomorrow.
Comments were very favorable on the effect.
