Default TF Gold Kit: AT-6 Texan

New poster here. I have a Top Flite Gold edition AT-6 Texan kit that I bought 7 or 8 years ago. I started building it when I got it, but only completed the stab before I got side tracked into other things. I've been lurking on this site a while and really love the "build threads" about different kits. I was wondering if anyone maintained a build diary of their Top Flite Texan that I could peruse? I haven't found a build thread anywhere, but am hoping such a web link exists?

Thanks for any help gentleman.

Steve,

There was a great thread on here not too long ago.....it especially dealt with a CG issue on this kit.
You might try several searchs on the forum and you'll probably come up with it. I printed it out because I have this model as well and will build it when I retire.

Cheers,
Andy

Check in the "Top Flite" forum at www.rcscalebuilder.com, I think there are a couple going on over there.

Thank you both for the replies.

I found that post about the CG Andy. Much appreciated. I'm glad I learned that now!

Chad, that was exactly what I needed. Found a nice build thread over there!

Wish me luck!

Steve,
I also have the kit just sitting but I found the Hollywood Zero which is what I really wanted. Anyway, I do have a problem with the CG on the Zero and might have a problem with the AT 6 when it comes to build that plane. My question, where did you find the info on the AT 6.

There were acouple of build threads on the C.G. issue for Topflite and H-9 that might be of help.

Come to think of it, I believe I posted something to someone on the CG of the TF AT-6. I believe it had to do on how to measure the CG. My Hollywood Zero substained some damage but the damage had nothing to do with where the CG was but after repairs, it will have to be balanced again.
For what it's worth, my problem was the wing broke in half right behind the landing gear mounting blocks. At that spot, there is no ply support going to the center section. I add some reinforcement if I had to do over.

For what it is worth. I have been flying my T.F. AT-6 for a couple of years now and it flies great at the recomended CG. It is one of my favorite planes to fly. Erik
