Well it's almost time for the fat lady to sing. I finished painting the flaps and put on all my lense covers. The screws will be touched up as soon as I get more paint. The ailerons still aren't here but other than sanding them to shape all thats left is drilling for fuel lines, remote glow ignitor, and the throttle linkage. Oh year screw the canopy on and then the real fun part, putting all the graphics on. I'll do the gear doors at a later date. I just want to get this thing off my table so I can start her Monster Brother. I'll be sharing that build with all of you as well if you would like. Otherwise I was going to build it on RCSB. Let me know??? Heres some more pic's. I almost forgot that I am still waiting for my custom exhaust header from Kelvin at Keleo Creations.

To me it don't matter if you do it on RCSB or here. I am looking forward to your next build Gibbs.

I decided to paint the Carb intake vents silver to give the oil coolers a little color contrast. I think it adds some detailing.

I was bored and not in the mood to really get into anything to complicated like trying to figure out where all the wires are going to run and also the position of the throttle pushrod. So I added some graphics to the Corsair. If anyone thinks the Skull and Crossbones are to big thats to bad. Thats what I like and the option was sad. I displayed a picture of it. It is the same old black flag with the graphic in it. This is from Jolly Rogers treasure chest that I used. Here are some more pic's. I have to wait for a couple more decals of the flag to match the color of the plane because the ones I got were to light of a blue and these were on hand for another scheme I was going to do of it being a Marine Corsair. The last picture is of the decals that I ordered for this scheme. Only the flags were to light of blue.

Post here on RCU.

I go to RCSB some but the server is SOOO SLOW I drop in less and less. There is some great work there but access is poor IMO.

Glad to see your getting near the end great work all around.

Bob,

I have decided to do the build here also because the rules for size of font and the picture regulations and size problem bother me. I am hoping someone else joins me in the build of Don's Monster and we can turn it into a Group Build. Thats what I'm going to call it to start with anyway. I hope that doesn't offend anyone. I have to get a couple more flafs for the sides of the fuselage. The first batch I got were the right color but Callie must have changed colors since then because now the ones I ordered for this schem are to light. I am using a set she made for me months ago when the plane was going to be grey, black, and white for the U.S. Marine Corp. scheme. I will send her an e-mail and get them on there way so I can put this puppy to bed until Spring for the maiden. I'll take a day off here and there from the 1/4 scale for little things that need completion. I also foud a bunch of very small decals like NO PUSH and FUEL VENT that I am going to take out of the decal set that came with the Kit. I also ordered a Hanger 9 Corsair from Horizon which of course is backordered.[:-] Where are you headed that you will be near the frozen tundra of southern Wisconsin?

I glued the canopy on and applied the turtle deck decal I made a pattern for and also put the right side decals on. Anyone wanting the turtle deck decal for the 1/8 scale TF Corsair can get it now through Callie Graphics @ (505)-293-2922. Here are some pics. I am waiting for her to send me out the stars and stripes for the sides of the fuselage.

I glued on all the control surfaces and hooked up my flaps. I am still waiting for the aileron stick to come from Top Flite/Hobbico so I can finish the wing. The one flap isn't coming all the way up so I will have to make a end point adjustment. Here are some pic's.

Gibbs,

Looking good!

I've been a bit distracted from the project lately. However, with this being a 3 day weekend, I'm planning to get back into it and hope to have get my flaps finished up.

I got my ailerons today but haven't had time to do anything with them yet. I did replace a light that got broke off during all the moving of the wing. Now all lights are in and lenses are in place. Now I just have to figure out where to put all the wires. Here are a few pic's of the lights. The yellow one on the leading edge is a flashing light to simulate a camera.

I'm waiting on three decals and all the graphics will be on the plane. Its back to glass work now. I finished shaping the ailerons and will give them a coat of thinned Z-Poxy and then thinned spot putty to prepare them for paint. Once there painted I will glue them in place and hook them up. I'm almost done with this build. Maybe another week or two is all.

Well it's almost finished. I will finish the ailerons tomorrow and post the final product. I cleaned my shops today so I can start the 1/4 scale. Here are a couple pic's with all the decals and the wing with everything but the painted ailerons on. After I finish them I'll put them on and finish with all the hookups of the battery/receiver for the lights and the flying surfaces/throttle. Then I'll take it to my Ace Hardware and weight it on their postal scale for exact weight which I'll post. Then I'll play the waiting game for the custom exhaust. Since that will bring this build to a stand still I got ready for the BIG BIRD BUILD now and started to unwrap the parts. The sticks, sheets, and misc. wood is in a seperate box. The main spar for the center section is in a flat box pretected by aluminum.

Gibbs,

Looks great!!

I finally bit the bullet and just finished glassing the top of my wing. I'll flip her over and glass the bottom tomorrow. Then it's back to getting the flaps worked out. I finally got one side where I'm happy with them. It shouldn't be too hard to replicate that on the other side. Then it's ailerons, paint, and then doing the mechanical stuff.

I'm also going to spend a bit of time working on a Phencepost I picked up this morning. The local club has a bunch of folks that are going to start flying combat.

Well, today was a wing day. I finished glassing my Corsair wing. I also put together most of the wing for my Phencepost. Hopefully, next weekend I'll get some paint on the Corsair wing.

I'll post the whole plane together when I get it completely done. I painted the bottom of the ailerons yesterday and was going to paint the top today. It is about 5 below 0 here and the small heater in my garage just can't get it up to 55 when it's that cold. If your interested in Corsair builds check out my 1/4 scale build here on this forum.

Hey Gibbs, I don't recall seeing anywhere in your posts if you plan on doing this but, when you are all done installing everything I would be very interested in the aircrafts overall weight.

Thanks

The bottom of the ailerons are painted and after they dry for a couple days I'll tape them off and paint the tops. Then I'll post some pic's of the plane assembled.
