Thanks DVS1, I hope she gets finished soon so i get to flying her again, She was my favorite and then get back on track building the rest of my brisswaffe.

Well, the repair has gone really well, the wing is really nice and firm now which is great, so once i glue the wingtip on and fill any of the major voids I can start with the rough sanding of the the surfaces, and the arduous task of getting the surface finish correct.

Unfortunatly for the Fw-190 repair story I have just given the contractors the green light today to start the concrete slab replacement for downstairs so I have a lot of work in front of me to get it ready ffor next week, so it might be a while before i can get back to the Fw. Never mind, she will be completed in a better workshop now! She will now live in the spare room for a few weeks...

Thanks

dave

The concrete slab replacement hasn't started yet, but i thought i'd post some Pic's of what my workshop looks like at the moment. Demolition is going to start in 3 days time but i'm pretty much ready to go.

I have had a little bit of progress on the Fw-190 on the side. We have had a new paint booth installed at work and while doing some certification test pieces with our painters i thought i'd give the booth a real test to see how good it is. I have 2pak polyurathaned the plug for the Fw canopy. so i should be able to vac-form a far clearer canopy to replace the exsisting one that has cracked pretty badly. Now i have to make a bigger vac-form box!!

Thanks

dave

Nice plane to model.
I thought that A Galland preferred the 109 but, he did also fly the 262.....(Let me research..lol.).

Hey Guy's

The progress on the workshop has been slow.... The concrete replacement turned to crap and so still behind where i wanted to be. I have got the first top coat on the plaster done (drywall for the US listeners). but still don't have my benches etc back in the workshop, so even though i'm home sick with the flu at the moment, I can't even do a little work if i felt like it[&o]. Hopefull I'll get back in there soon... I might have a review model to do

I did insulate and sound proof the walls so I can work just that little bit later into the summer nights

Thanks

dave

well, it has been some time since my lst post but there has been significant progress on the repair of the Fw's wing!!!!

As you can see, the jigsaw puzzle is back together again and now with a 10mm carbon spar running through it. I will have to add the same to the other side of the wing to assist with lateral balancing but she is progressing. The wing is sitting there waiting for the filler to dry before I bog up the underside and get sanding again.

Thanks

dave

Here is the primer coats completed and ready for the panel lines to be re-scribed back into their place. I also have to install the cannon blisters as well.

I weight the difference between the to half of the wing and the repairs have added 78grams so far. Seeing as the wing is now heavier on repaired side, instead of just adding dead weight to the other side I decided to take the precaution of installing a carbon spar on that side as well, so I popped of the wingtip to expose the culpit holes in the foam core and tomorrow morning I'll glue in the carbon spar!

Hopefully by the weekend she will be ready for the top coats of paint.

Thanks

dave

Galland also flew the Fw 190 in the defence of the Reich. mostly against USAAF heavy bombers.
He shot down one bomber for sure, but some accounts say as many as 3 bombers were shot
down by Galland.

edit:
whoops.. seen that LDM already posted that.. sorry.

Hi Dave,

You gonna put floats on that 190?

Might be the only way you'll get to fly for a while! Getting plenty of the wet stuff here but so far not as bad as Qld.

Regards

Terry

Your not wrong mate!!! The really bad rain is a good 8hrs north of Brisvegas so were just soaked, not so much flooded....

I've got a couple of models in my workshop that have been ready to go for either maiden's or post mod/repairs flights for so many MONTHS that it's no longer funny[:@]

our model field is also in "low lying" land, i.e. marshland, so on top of no rain, we'll need about a good week of great HOT weather for the field to dry out enought to start the repairs to all the grass. I've even started to hibernate some of my models for the summer.......

Back on to the 'ole girl, I've got the carbon spar glued into the "good" side of the wing and the wing tip reinstalled. I'm just wiating for the blade putty to dry so i can sand it down. All i really have left is some repairs to the R/H aileron mounts and then it's the last of the primer squirts and panel lines here we come!

I'll post some more pic's soon.

Thanks

dave

Hey Guy's

The blade putty is all sanded down, and the last of the repairs to the wing are completed. The panel lines have been laid down so hopefully tomorrow morning before work I'll spray the high fill primer on those panel lines and have her ready for top coats of paint.. It's getting close now!!!!

Thanks

Hey Guy's

It's been a while since i posted on this thread, but the repairs have been completed about 3-4 weeks ago. She hasn't flown yet due to engine troubles that had me beat for a fiar while, but finally she's running again!

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_10...m.htm#10485660

I have to do some final carbie adjustments and then it's on with the cowl and she's ready to go. I've got this week off from work, but as per usual of late everytime I have a spare moment to go out flying, the weather turns to crap![:@] This next week being no different!

I haven't replaced the canopy yet but that will come shortly after it's flying again!

Thanks

Dave

looks great Dave , I have to pick up some paint , that is my only hold up to being done on this 10 year project !!!.
I found the plastic model mag on the Galland paint scheme , its more complex and multi pattern but hey , did we pick anything that is easy lol !!!

Thanks guy's

She has been out of action for ages! but she is finally ready for the post repairs flight.

Started the engine up again today and did the final bit of tuning before throwing the cowl back on, and test running her again. All good! just need to put the cowl screws in and wait for some decent weather again[:@]

Thanks

Hey Guy's,

Been ages since I updated this post be she flew again a few months ago now! It went OK. The 18x10 3 blade prop was too much for the motor and so it kinda struggled around the circuit. and I need to add a little more wieght to the right hand wing as she now drops the left pretty strongly in a stall, but all fixable.

The additional weight of the repairs is noticeable but the prop wasn't helping so I'm going to have to really try and sort out the original Zinger for it again.

I now have the new ESM 83" Fw-190 Dora coming in so back onto the German birds again!!!!

Thanks

Done a lot of bashing to the fuselage and wings to get it closer to scale, flies electric on 8s
