Default Don Smith mustang 112"

OK guys, I just picked up the Don Smith 112" Mustang kit. I still need the plans and all the glass stuff for it. This will be my first giant scale project. I know I should have started with something smaller but I figure I will take my time and do it right. I started to look in RCU for Smith mustangs. I was supprised I did not find much. A lot of people asking questions but not any build threads. I checked RCScalebuilder but nothing on the stang. Is there something about this kit that I don't know? If you have built one or know someone who has, please I will take any help I can get. It will be a while before I get started on it. I have to finish up some other projects first. Please post any pic's you have and what should I look out for. Also, what retracts, engine, servos, are you using. Thanks in advance.

I just got plans, but the plastic parts are not in stock, so I have to wait and see how it looks.
I think the plans looks god, but VI will see when VI gets started with building, so can it be more difficult as I expedited.

The thread is probably dead, and I've that there are other threads, but wanted to show that I'm doing the model, and hope to have it finished this winter 2014.

Hi
Then I'm back again and have started painting the mustang.
It's not so fast with the building because I have to keep my other models flying too.
I've had a couple of crashes with my ziroli DC 3 that took a long time to build again.
I will put in as I get it built.

I did not reach it until spring this year and the engine will be my ZDZ 80 ccm. It's too expensive to buy the 4 stroke engine and it's also plenty heavy.
As the pictures show, there is only engine assembly left, but I have built our kitchen and bathroom here this summer, so there's a new winter to finish it.
I should have just made my Ziroli DC 3 again after it crashed in the spring and was about 50% smashed so there's a hard job on it too.

Above, I am adjusting and testing driving my engine, which has only run half a liter at this time.

Sorry but I did not need to post a photo before I had written 10 posts, so here is an old building thread where the model is finished and the test flow.

Hi I know it is an old thread but is there anyone here who has experience with the weight of Don Smith mustang 112 ".I had expected about 18 kg (36 pounds) but I weighed it today and found that it weighs 23 Kg (46 pounds) but it does nothing.I have looked through build threads here today and seen that there are not many that get their models finished, but they also devote that their will weigh about 22.5 Kg (45 Pounds). rv-j and 26 x 12 propel.
thanks in advance.

Your Mustang looks really good though there is one cosmetic issue some might have with it. The British didn't like the original hinged and framed canopy so they normally replaced it with the "Malcolm Hood" type sliding canopy as talked about in this article:

I know there is another cokpit on the later flights but this plane is made as it flew under the RAF. With the photos I have been able to get online and are doing like the British sqn 112 flew. in 1945. That's a B version

3th fligth.
