I flew this weekend. I went out with a bearcat, P-47, and this Martin Baker MB-5. Great day for flying in Kentucky!

Thanks guys. It is a Vailancourt plan, 93" ws. Kit was cut if I remember by All American kit Cutters. She is now 14 years old. Rocket tubes were made from "Estes Rockets" rocket tubes. They are static only. I keep toying around with making them flyable but just never seem to get around to it. I have how ever made a functioning(non fuel) center line drop tank, so I think that would look awesome doing low straffs with all the goodies hanging off.
Too windy to fly today, but I did have yesterdays flight.

I started this thread two years ago and it's that time of year again.

Ubfortunately, I only have an Axis warbird that is ready to fly at the moment. I recently relocated from Connecticut to Florida for a job at the Kennedy Space Center and really haven't had a whole lot of time to repair my P-47 from a rough landing last year.

Anyway, have a fun and safe Memorial day and remember to thank a vet!

Thank you to all the veterens on this message board. Your sacrifice is greatly appreciated by me and my family!

Then by all means: KEEPITGOING ( year after year ).

It amazes me how few warbird events are scheduled for Memorial Day. The club in Terre Haute, IN USED to have a Memorial Day Warbird Event every year, but for some reason have moved this event to mid summer.
My club, the Balsa Bees of Battle Creek, MI is hosting a 'family day/ BBQ chicken lunch at the field on Memorial Day, but I will be bringing warbirds and nothing but warbirds to fly that day: it only makes sence.
Remember what this day is for: paying tributethose how have made the ulitimate sacrice for our country, as well as ALL of thosewho have served our country, and treat the day accordingly. It is a day of remembrence, and celebrating what their efforts have left us with.

Like he said: 'Fly a Warbird' that day. Better yet, invite some vets to come and see it, and offer them a BBQ chicken lunch.

Our club puts on a potluck and family fly in.   We're hoping the weather holds.  Right now there is a chance of rain but it's low right now.  Hopefully the winds stay low too.

We are going this sat to a Car Show / Full scale Fly in / RC Fly in.  There are supposed to be some WW2 re-enactments there too.  So it should be a good time to celebrate and honor soldiers from all wars who gave everything in the name of freedom.

I wish I had my Corsair ready but I'll put up what I can in honor this year.

Steve

I was able to go out and test fly my new yellow aircraft P-38 this past weekend at a friends field in indiana. everything went well, it's powered by 2 DA50's with custom made mufflers, and 20x12 3 blade props. I should also be able to test fly my P-47 in the next couple of weeks also. It's also powered with a DA50 and a 22x10 prop same custom muffler.

That time of year again....

Who's going to fly a warbird this Memorial Day?

Again, a special thanks to all of our men and women in uniform, past and present!

Thanks to P-47guy for his annual revival of this thread he started several years ago! My club is small (40 members) but a small group of us in the club (maybe 6) are having an informal warbird weekend in honor of Memorial Day and those who sacrificed so much for us. Since weather might not be so good on the holiday, we are just shooting to take our warbirds out all weekend, starting tomorrow which is forecast for pretty nice weather here. I'll be taking my P-47 (Modeltech, flies great, and makes me look good on landings) and my T-28 Trojan (BHM). Those are my only warbirds, but I am proud of them and I love em. I know one guy will bring a P-51 and a BF-108. Another will bring his Texan. Another will bring his Corsair, Warhawk, and Texan, and another will bring his Spitfire. I advertised it to the whole membership that we'd be doing this and invited them to bring a warbird of any era, flyable or not, just to help honor Memorial Day. We'll see if anyone shows up to watch or participate, but we'll still have fun and pay tribute in a small way. Jon

Sgt Morris

Thank you for your service. My families thoughts and prayers are with you. Stay safe and come home soon.

Unfortunately, the only warbird I have in flyable condition is an Axis warbird...Maybee I'll let an American warbird shoot me down

I have my P-40 on the charger with expectations of great weather tomorrow morning. Hopefully it will come home in the same condition it's going out in! Thanks to "Uncle Joe" for the pics by the way.

Well, with all the Whistling Deaths, Jugs, Stangs, Fork Tailed Devils, and Widow Makers flying this weekend, I'll just have to be the "Bad Guy" and put the Stuka in the air just to remind all Americans (me too) why we went to war. To all VETS, a BIG Thank-You for your service and God Bless the USA!!!!

Chad those are awesome pictures of the P-40 in flight. Is that a sliding Canopy? If so that is something that I want to do on my Corsair, but have not been brave enough to try on any plane yet!!
That is a great looking plane!!!

Hope you all have a good Memorial Day! Thanks again to those who served and especially those who gave their lives. Here are some pics of yesterday's gathering of warbirds at our club field. We had 11 warbirds fielded by just 5 pilots. You can see the conditions were not that good, so we had just 4 birds take to the sky, and the rest will fight another day. Here are some pics that I hope you enjoy. Jon
