I made mine using a microswitch which is activated by a wheel collar on the trottle linkage. It'll come on with the throttle all the way off, and the trim at about 1/3. It'll turn off at about half throttle. I use a single C cell Nimh battery and a simple connector for disconnecting and charging.

We are doing about the same thing. I just like full time glow. Much smoother running motors and I have yet to burn up a glow plug...
Some have dropped the bottom cylinder without glow on the 170...

Why spend the money. you can go to radio shack and make your own for about $10 -15... I use this on all my glow engines and run them constantly when motor is running...A 2000mah battery will give you about 40 minutes of constant glow. In about 2 year I have yet to burn up a glow plug. great idle and quick transition....

Silly question alert ...

Wulf, what is the DC power plug and DC power jack used for ... charging the battery? Can you show how you use the DC power plug and how it's wired? While I'm at it, where do you mount the switch? Have you ever tried to turn it on/off via a servo?

Thanks!

Alex,
The way Scott does it works really well too. It just allows you to turn it on and off with throttle position. I just did it my way to allow full time glow...If you look at the 2nd post you will see how to set it up with a charging jack. Or you could do it with a deans plug like I did on this one....
