Default Zenoah G20 EI in Pica FW 190D

About to start on the 1/6 scale Pica FW 190D. Have not decided on an engine yet. Now that Zenoah has the G20 out do you think it is a suitable choice for this plane?

these are designed around a .61 2 st and fly great that way think the g20 would be overkill and the extra 25 oz would probably turn a nice flyer into a dog.

Sorry a bit too late for your question, just came across this thread through a link. My Pica Waco YMF 3 1:6th scale has the Saito .91s
4/s, it is excellent for this size of a bi-plane, mine flys great with plenty of power to spare. Just keep it light. If you want to see a picture I can send you a couple. One with the cowl removed and one with the cowl on.

Good luck.
Chalres.

karlwatt...............forgot to mention to you. The G20 ei would probably be too heavy. It is definetly heavier that the Saito 91. I added some weight to the nose, not sure how much.

Karwat................Sorry my mistake, I thought you were referring to the Pica WACO. The G20ei Zenoah would probably fit your FW 190D, and most probably you won't have to add weight to the tail. I don't have this engine, but was thinking of getting one of these for my Hangar 9 F4U Corsair .60, but have second thoughts 'cause I hear this engine is power hungry, unless I'll modify the E. ignition. I also hear that this is an excellent engine.

Charles.

this 190 has, from memory, a very short engine bay, my 61fsr fitted nice in mine, and was MORE than enough power, to fit this motor would probably ruin its gentle flying characteristics

I put a g20 into a BHM P-36 Hawk, with a 15" 3-blade prop, and it's a great combo for the plane.
That 3 blade would look great on the FW190.[8D]
I've wanted to put a g20 into a Platt or Pica 190, I just don't have the time to build it.
The trick to keeping her light is to not use a NICD or NIMH batt...I've been usining a single cell LIPO and it's light as can be.
Just position your receiver/ batt firther back to obtain the correct CG.
I'm getting out of Nitro and going gas in all my planes.
I have a Graupner FW190D that I'm considering putting a Roto25cc engine in; I'd prefer using the g20, but I already have the other engine.
I'll be putting a FPE 21cc engine in my new3 SIG P-61 (.60 size)[8D]
