RE: ATTENTION ALL P-51's - The Gathering of P-51 Mustangs and Legends
I've been to a lot of air shows over the years but I'd say this one ranks up there at the top of the list!
Several of the women of the women's air service were staying in the same hotel as I. In talking with them it was interesting to note that some of these women went on to fly in the National and International air races. One of the ladies even wanted a Corvette so she could race it. Because of that fact her husband bought her a King Air instead! Charming women indeed.

What an awesome time that was! I was only there Saturday 8am-7:30pm, could have easily made it a three day event, one to just look at the aircraft, next day visit all the vendors and displays, I could have spent all day just in the tuskegee tent, next day just sit in the grandstand and watch the show, hopefully next time if there is one I can do that?
10 out 11 1/2 hours I spent in Mustang Lane!! once I got there there was no turning back
I'll post pics every so offen, wanna post the larger size photos so it will take me a while on dial-up,[:'(] So check back often!!
Gary, very nice meeting you and "thanks again" for getting me Mr.Williams signiture Sat evening. Wish I could have spent more time with you guys, look like you had a great time, also great job on what you have done for Red Tail Angels, it's very special for what you have done for them!
Your 51 looked great on the trailer with all those great men!! also your "other" 51 on the table in the tent!! post more photos when you have some extra time, we would love to see them!!
Juice nice job!!, wish I would have seen you carrying that nice looking crazy horse!! for sure!! I would have stopped you and got a photo of ya!!
well I'm having a little trouble posting photos???, so I'll have to try more later.

I agree. What a GREAT time!
Got there Thursday afternoon aboput 4pm and was there all day Friday (Grandstand), Saturdau (Legends Club) and Sunday (Box seats). And the chance to talk w/ many of the Legends, the Tuskegee Airmen, the Thunderbirds and the other show pilots. Worth every penny.
For my money the two most impressive flight displays werte John Mohr in the stoc k Stearman and Patty Wagstaff in the P51C. They flew on the wing using energy. Not on the engine and prop. Patty Wagstaff flew the best P51 routine I've seen since Bob Hoover.
Have a ton of pics of the Lanc, P38s, P47s B25s, B17s, P63 et al and of course the Mustangs....

I have to agree, it was the best air show I have ever witnessed including many Oshkoshs. AWSOME. I spent five days there. Here are a couple of photos that I posted on another site. The man signing my aircraft in the first photo is Lee Archer Jr. He is the only known ace of the Tuskegee airmen. My model is the D version of his aircraft "Ina The Macon Belle". To share with the pilot that flew the real plane that you have modeled is beyound priceless. This is what scale modelers live for in my opinion. The second photo is of Mr Roscoe Brown who also was a Tuskegee airmen and a squadron comander of a group of Mustangs. His squad was noted for shooting down the first ME262s down on the 15th Air Force. He got the first one and two more where shot down the same day by pilots under his command. They recieved a unit citation for their actions. After the parade with the Tuskegee Airmen on a trailer with my older red tail mustang that had about 48 signatures of the original airmen on it. The ones who had not signed it before signed it after the parade. One couldn't wait and climed over the rail and signed it on the trailer. What a great experience meeting all these great Americans! The plane now sports over 70 sigatures.

I would have swore your pictures were taken on Friday. I was there Saturday and I thought the crowd followed me wherever I went.
Great pictures!

Gary, WOW!!!! Your 51's have become priceless, you have to share with us "what's your plan for them, "Dayton Museum?? or will they stay at Rickenbacker? I kinda have a feeling that they will never fly again. which in your case - IS JUST FINE I'm sure!!
What a ride/journey it must have been!! -- AWESOME JOB!!!!!

Mark, the fate of both of my Mustangs is still up in the air. "Little Freddie" will never fly again. I offered it to the US Air Force museum to be put on display and they turned me down due to it's size. The Airport Authority in Columbus may put it on display at the Columbus international airport. The D Mustang will be flown on special occasions for a while.
This was just one American trying to say thank you for what these men have done for all our freedom when our country didn't even want them. I am so glad that a dear friend of mine suggested that I paint the model in the Tuskegee paint scheme. If not for him it would never have happen. Up until then I had never heard of them or their story.
It has been a great priviledge to have met so many of them.

I'd like to make the trip, but that's still up in the air right now. Here's my Mustang, H9 PTS with a bit of color modification. Evo .52 for power.
Cheers! BH
