Default Scalewings 1/3.5 and 1/4.5 scale fully composite LA7

Todd and Darrell asked me about this plane in another thread. I found out about it on a German RC warbird website. Scalewings had a fantastic Tigercat fully composite that I was checking out for a friend and on their website they mentioned there LA7 was coming next. I inquired about it and Hans, the designer and builder gave me a link to a design and build thread on warbirdforum.de . The thread started on 31 october 2005 and I have been following it since January 2006. It is into flight testing now so things are pretty quiet but when it is ready I am thinking about the big one.
If RCU allows it I will post a link to the site and you can check out the Tigercat and I will post a few pics of the two LA7's.

The thread is on http://www.warbirdforum.de/forum/thr...85fc6cc49ce8e0
Scalewings is http://www.scalewings.com/welcomepage.php
and the Tigercat is http://www.scalewings.com/flugzeuge/tigercat_e.php

the LA7 http://www.scalewings.com/flugzeuge/lavochkin_e.php
good luck Paul

By the way, The big one is 110 inches and the small one is 85 inches. The original was a pretty small plane.

I will post a few pics of the design and start of the mould build , then some pics of the kits in detail now that it is almost ready to for production. I hope Hans doesn't mind as I think we all will admire his work.

This is what the kit is like now. I haven't seen one flying as Hans is doing all the prep work for the grand finale. I can't wait as I know three buyers in my close group of friends.
The first picture is from a week or so ago at the field where the guys is testing it. The guy who took the picture is a member of the club at the field. The rest are from the designer in his shop.
Good Luck
Paul

I know the manufactorer Hans Schwöller, and I tell you, his models are "State of Art". The best thing I´ve ever seen worldwide. Hans is an artist and believe me, his aircraft are scale at its best. Everythings fits without a millimeter space between and the kit looks like an unused emergancy-room, very clean, perfect and solid ...... great absolute great

here some pics from his fabulous Tigercat, and some of the Lavochkin. The retracts are from my friend Robert Schiller, who is a small bavarian manufacturer. He makes the gears exclusivly to Hans Schwöller, and believe me, the are scale and very solid !

Well i just sent my deposit, The plane wont be ready until July. My buddy and I are both buying the big one so Joe Nall 2009 should be a sight to see.
good luck
Paul
PS the exchange rate is killing us. The last time I bought with euros the exchange rate was 93 cents. Now it is a $1.42. That added a 1000 bucks to the plane.

Hi Guys,

After a wait of some 15 months the models finally arrived(Christmas eve) and it was worth every second.

Here are some pics of the box and the contents and it is awsome to say the least. The quailty of packing and the quaity of the kit is the best I have seen.

The instructions are in German, but Johann(The Designer)gives you a Cd with many pictures on covering all aspects of the build.

The kit is incredibly engineered and the quality of the glass is second to none. It is very easy to cut and sand.

Started with cutting out the hatches and undercarriage bays

Yes I certainly will.

I have agonised over the colour scheme and think I am going to go with the attached.

What are your thoughts?

Fantastic looking bird. But once a plane gets that expensive, all I can do is watch and dream...

Steve, I like the scheme you picked out. Keep us informed. I, personally, find the darker, drab colors uninteresting on these Russian birds...I love the light greay and white tones mixed with red.

I do see one problem with the kit............................................... it isn't produced here in the states. The cost is prohibitive for the majority to have shipped over...very sad face[&o]

That said, very nice kit and should be gorgeous in the air.

Jeff, I once checked to see what it would cost to ship that beauty here... the quote I got was nearly $740.00...

I love the color scheme. Then again i'm not particular about it. I'd love primer on it if it were in my building room. I read the little inset in the color picture and i hope it's fate dosen't come with the color scheme???

Can't wait for the first flight! Keep it going. Great job.

Hi,

Don,t forget on the european website its includes VAT/Sales Tax at 17.5% !!!. So you need to take that off the price.

Shipping 2 of them cost about $500 to the airport and then we picked them up from there.

When we initially ordered the planes the dollar/ euro rate was 1.41 then it spiked at about 1.85(which was prohibitive) But owing to the delay the final rate was 1.28 against the dollar so we came out well.

I agree still a pricey machine but well woth the sacrifices we made to get it.

We got delivery of the planes on Christmas eve and we will have it taxying next week !!! I,ve been slow at putting this thread together as I wanted to get on with it.

As long as the test flights go well I.ll be flying it at TOP GUN this year

Steve
