Well, I finally got a chance to start painting my corsair. I'm using Klass Kote and it sprayed on pretty good. Here is a couple pics of the base coat.

Sounds like fun. I have been bitten by the bug again. Still don't have a club to join nearby so I'm thinking seriously of getting one of those RTF electrics. I've got a nice field nearby where I can go do some silent pirate flying.

Mega16/15/5, 2100 3s Lipo, Castle Creations Phoenix 25 (or whatever the current equivalent) a couple of the tiny Hitec hs55s and build that little 'cat I sent you!

a Mini Ultra Stick is a good flyer too.......

I'll build it eventually but I just can't find time right now. That's part of the appeal of buying one of RTFs. Plus, I don't know jack about electrics. That sentence you just typed was like a foreign language to me.
I'm guessing the Mega 16/15/5 is the motor?
In that case, the Phoenix 25 must be the esc?
Also, I can get a Parkzone Mustang, Spitfire or Fw-190, ready to fly- with radio, battery and transmitter- for the cost of the motor, esc and battery. It even includes and extra battery pack and free shipping.

Luke had dropped off RCU as an active posting member but I believe drops in under different names from time to time. His talents and insight are missed.

Thanks for the update. I knew he had a few aliases but didn't know if he was still getting on. Hopefully he'll get back in touch.
We have exchanged emails and phone calls and I miss his posts and was curious as to what he was doing now.

Hi there,
Is Paul still out there? His Royal Corsair is the best workmanship I've ever seen. I read through the whole thread it is fantastic. What a nice guy too. Anyway I would be interested to know how his Corsair flew, and to see any other projects he's working on. One can learn a great deal from someone like this, and also gain inspiration for new projects!

Sorry,

I meant Luke. Not Paul. Has anyone heard from Luke or about any other projects he's working on and may have posted?

Very informative thread on the Corsair.........................It is long to read, I'm interested to see how Luke built his flaps on his Royal Corsair, perhaps I can apply the same method to the H9 Corsair. Any of you guys know which posts in this thread it's located or explained ?. Thanks

Ah.....here you are Luke............spending too much time on the beach.[sm=shades_smile.gif] First off, your Corsair project is really terrific especially the detailing. I was just wondering if you had posted any pictures of the flaps while you were building them. Especially the connections of the flaps themselves. I have the H9 Corsair and planning to add flaps to it. Thanks.

Guess this is a good place to post the final chapter in this thread, a complete build video and finally the maiden flight video all within 2 clicks!

I don't live in Florida anymore, but I will be going back for a week for my performance at the King Center in Melbourne FL for Spartacus, I'm acting as a gladiator, but that's another story.

On the flaps, I used ply reinforced with carbon fiber for the hinges, I would just use PC board now. Here I'll see if I can find some pictures, when I first started this build I was not taking pictures that much and I was not a member of any forum. So some of the wing got built without being documented very well.

I use a single servo to control all the flaps using 2 bellcranks, its a little more trouble but it works great and I sealed the wing, no hatches. Hope these pictures help:

ReaperGrim........................thanks for your reply. Will watch videos for sure. Good luck with your gladiator part in Spartacus and future. (Sword loving myself, but don't own one, my favourite sword is the Wallace). I'm reading the thread a few pages at a time. Very interesting and informative, just became one of my favourite threads on the Corsair. Just been trying to decide whether to go with the mod on the flaps with H9 Corsair. The Corsair just does'nt look right without the flaps. So I just have to bite the bullet and add flaps. Thanks for your help.

luke is one of those sensitive types, he obviously took his ball and went home, its a shame his contributions to the hobby and building are top notch, but he doesn't care for any input other than his own, its his way or the highway, frankly comes off as a bit of a crybaby.

there may be other opinions out there,I don't know him personally, just from what I have encountered from his postings here, and my attempts to buy his products, unsucsessfully.

he has a project that he started here a giant scale corsair build, but too many good ideas other than his came up and he pulled up stakes and went to RCScaleBuilder to work out "his" project if you are looking for a link to the project listed here you might look him up there.

I understand the criticisim leveled at luke, but you know he is just human like all of us. He is talented, and such. I would take his advice on building often. Unfortunately, he did kind of retreat. I still don't think that is a diffinative reason to criticize him. We have a continuing 1/6th Corsair build thread for all interested. Just search for those key words. I am sure we all wish Luke were contributing to the thread. He has his reasons and I respect that. Many of us love to make quality model airplanes. Luke is one of them. -Eric Hanson

no doubt my posting was a bit harsh Eric, I too wish he was still a active contributer to the build threads, his talent is really on a level many won't get to in there building endevors,my only regret is he stopped sharing after opening pandoras box.

Yea..Goose, I am wit ya..mail me too Luke! I guess; goose, I could just use the contact I have. He has been a bit restrictive after not gaining quite the group he wanted for his Corsair build. I can't really blame him. It was just two of us(plus luke) working and talking about plans with him...and it just got out of hand. He does fine work, and I do fine work also. Would have been nice to be involved.

Luke's threads have always been my favorites. Before seeing his work, I would just follow the build instructions. It never occured to me to study real planes and try to improve our models. Imagine my surprise when I first signed up on RCU and found this thread. I miss his pressence on this site.

Luke,

Just in case you check in on occasion, I just wanted to express my grattitude and best wishes. I tried to respond to your email from Sept, but it would not work.

Keith
