Hey, I resemble that remark!!
Tell you what, Wally. I'll trade your P-40 with the red spinner for your three blade spinner, as long as it has the Focke Wulf attached to it. What do you think?
Jetmex is SUCH a cheap b@$t@&d

Well, here are a couple of pics of the SkyShark Spinner. Sorry that the right side shot is so "busy". Was focused on the plane not realizing all the stuff in the background.
We all get the idea, though, eh?

Well now, how about a fine German Prop to go on my fine German aircraft???
Picked up this Graupner 16X8 3-blader today. at my LHS.
Little, by little.....
Oh, one last thing. See all of that "stuff" piled in the box way behind the airplane?
That's the packing material from my new KMP Bf-110 !!!!! Sweet machine.

You know, I really am having fun w/ this, trim, painting etc. Might as well; can't fly htis time of year!
OS 120AX, Sierra Gianl Scale retracts, Skyshark D9 3-blade spinner, Graupner 16x8 prop (probably just for display...) and a "free hand" w/ paint and trim. Probably will do the spinner later on this week. Not sure whether I'll do the "Spiralschnauze" in black and either white or yellow, or a solid color.

Weren't some of the spinners painted half black and half white? Might be simpler than the spiral, but still look neat while running.

Does anyone know what color the underside of this plane is and where I can get some? I'm looking for a close match to paint the bolts and washers that hold the gear doors to the struts. Also have some other touchup. Don't need to spray it, can brush it on.
TIA

I'll check with FW37. He's on the BF-110 thread and seems VERY up on that type thing. I'll ask him to respond on here.

RE: KMP / YT FW-190 Build Thread
I have "squeezed" in a InZpan Cockpit kit in my KMP FW190. I know the kit is in 1:5 scale and the plane is in 1:6, but i manage to do it and i think it turned out quite good.
The floor, back wall and seat is from a DB kit.
Ok, i also know that the side panels are to short and to low, and the dashboard comes a bit to close to the floor. The lower middle console did get it's own shape to fit against the floor, not scale size and shape but it work's for me and i think it's ok. Anyway it is a whole lot better than the fabric added sticker dashboard
Started whit a DB kit but i thought the fit was to pore, and the supplied "gages" was everything but acceptable [:'(] Thats why i could use the floor, back wall and seat from Dynamic Balsa. The supplied seat from InZpan was way to big, and there was no chance to fit it in the cockpit.

Hi,
Here is a movie of my electric-powered FW190. Watch out for the wind in the mike, it was about 12-15mph!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pb2VFlyjL6k
The motor is a Turnigy 6364-280, the ESC is a Turnigy Sentillon 100A, the batteries are 8S1P 5000mAh. Total weight ready to fly is 15 lbs, with no ballast required to get the CG correct. It flies really well. I biult it more or less stock except for the electrics installation in the cowling, where there are no cutouts at all.

RE: KMP / YT FW-190 Build Thread
Been flying my FW190 for a while now. After landing a couple of weeks ago noticed that the motor seemed to be loose so suspended further flight operations.
Was a while before I investigated, when I did found that the ply disc that reinforces the back of the composite firewall (ie inside the fuelage) had come unglued.
Fixed the problem with some construction glue put in place using a piece of fuel tubing on the end of the nozzle and getting the wife to pull the trigger of the glue gun whilst I aimed.
Problem fixed, but will be sure to take a good look at the other KMP models I have waiting to assemble.

AIRFIX - You make it look really easy with that combo.
The CG appears perfect and the ground handling is wonderful.
You say it took no ballast to get the CG correct. Is it at the factory location???
Thanks for the show!

Hi,
Glad that you enjoyed the movie
I have the CG at 140mm from the leading edge at the wing root. I have the scope to move it further aft by moving the flight control battery and/or retract air tank but it is flying very nicely at the current CG position.

RE: KMP / YT FW-190 Build Thread
Hi,
A few folks were interested in my battery installation, so here are a few shots of it. Basically I cut out the gun trough panel of the cowl - it is retained by a couple of tongues at the front and a single screw at the rear. The batteries are mounted on a 1/16 ply board using velcro strips, and further retained by red velcro straps. The board slides into a couple of U-section aluminium rails, and is retained by the rail mounting screws at the bottom and by a single self-tapper at the top for inverted flying.
The motor is mounted on a 1/4 ply plate, and the plate is mounted to the aircraft by four 16mm diameter aluminium rods which are tapped for 6mm bolts at each end and cut to length to get the spinner in the right place.
Hope this helps anyone contemplating an electric version.

RE: KMP / YT FW-190 Build Thread
Well, need some encouragement here, guys.
Have been doing some other stuff as the flying season opens here, so haven't finished up the last few things on thw 190, but got to the shop today to do some workon it and weighed the thing. Holy Batfish! The wing, RTF, is 6lbs 4oz. The fuse, RTF less a few minor tweaks, is 9lbs 2oz. Total AUW before I add the first ounce of weight for balance is 15lbs 6oz. (The manual says flying weight is 12lbs 8oz.) WHAT is this thing gonna weigh?
Now, a lot of the weight in the fuse, such as battery, onboard glow system etc is mounted upfront on the firewall, and servos are toward the front too, so all that'll help. But I'm almost afraid to try to get the thing balanced. Hell, it might be so heavy it'll break my workbench.
Guess I'll just keep on keepin' on and see what happens...

RE: KMP / YT FW-190 Build Thread
Al,
By all accounts this aircraft is pretty tolerant of weight, hopefully you will not have to add too much lead to balance. The instructions that I obtained gave a range from 130mm to 145mm from the leading edge. Mine is OK at 140mm, and I'm sure it would be fine at 145mm as well, which will reduce the amount of ballast needed.
I had another couple of flights with mine today. My usual cameraman didnt appear ( the wind was above 15mph for most of the day). At around 4pm, there were rainclouds all around but my field was bathed in sunshine so I decided to have a go at self-filming. I strapped my FlyCamOne to my forehead with a rubber band, with a block of polystyrene behind it at the top to give me line of sight. Unfortunately there is no zoom facility, but it turned out not too bad.

Enjoy,

Mine flies OK at 17.5lbs with an OS120AX up front. CG is 130mm back from wing/fuse join.
I was a bit nervous first time out but a couple of fast runs down the strip showed me that the bird wanted to fly.

RE: KMP / YT FW-190 Build Thread
Hi guys
I finally flew my 190. Its been sitting in the loft for almost a year.
cg is at about 145mm and it seems to fly just fine.
Motor is an RCV130cd which is not run in and set very rich.
Need to set up a decent tail wheel. mine is not steerable which makes taxiing and ground looping on landing a pain.
If anybody has some pics of their tailwheel set up that would be helpful. Not retractable thanks.
Heres a video of the third flight, joined by my friend tony with his Mick Reeves mk9 Spit.
Landing was a bit rough, but the tiny bumpy runway doesnt help much.
