RE: WILLHOBBY FW 190 Build
You have a few options on splitting the flaps , on my willshobby seafury , I simply started new , added top sheeting then build the bottom flap . Another option I recently did on my P40 , was to carefully remove the film from the bottom of the flap , sand it down do that its half the original size , then add a bottom flap .
On my seafury I used Flite skin to make the flap along with carbon fiber rods .
A few suggestions , keep everything forward of the CG , try to move your servos forward in the wing , and everything in the fuse as far forward as possible , this plane has a similar outline to the seafury and mine needed a disappointing 26oz to balance , I made the weight up with a super large flight pack and 12oz of dead weight and a saito 125 in the nose

I have a willhobby hellcat that has a similar length and wingspan. I'm putting in a Homelite 25 cc conversion engine. I'm sure a G-26 would work too. It is on EI and weighs just over 3 lbs including muffler. I'll put both batteries aft for balancing.

I have a CMP 190 i put st 2300 with a perry carb. Cost 142.00 for the motor and 32.00 for the carb from tower hobbies. I put the different carb on it because the original would not idle correct. This engine sounds great with the pitts muffer more power that you need and it fits inside the cowl. It will flip start in six to eight and one flip when warm . CJ makes the retracts for the CMP190 if your wing is made like CMP's. do you have a picture of your bottom side of your wing. I put two 2300 MAH batteries and a D cell for the glow starter up front by the motor and 2.5 oz of weight. Fly's very good and lands very slow with 20% flaps.

Well I have just orderd a 1/5th scale german pilot from aces of iron and a 1/5th scale cockpit from dc cockpits.I went and found white non gloss fabrick covering for the re-sheetingI plan on doing scale rutter and stabs, not sure if I want to tackle scale flaps. How much space is in between the flap and wing.Do they close all the way.Do you have to make changes in trim????

The cowl spacer was either the wrong one or the mfg leaves all to be desierd.I tried everything and could not mount it and put the cowl on so now I am fiberglassing the cracks that resulted.I am going to leave off the wood and put the cowl on with some reinforcing for the mounting screws. It looks better and more scale with out it.Can somebody tell me if somthing else needs to be done?

ORIGINAL: LDM
I like the fact that the plane has wood wings vs foam ,I just picked up a Pica /Dave Platt FW 190 D , i guess I am building one from a kit [X(]

I second or third that statement. Wonder if the Willhobby wing would fit a CMP ?

Jl , WIlls hobby leave many things to the imagination , you need to trial fit everything before you glue anything . On my seafury I had to drill and tap the wing and fuse for the front leading edge dowell that holds the wing to the fuse .
Had to go in from the firewall and make sure I used an incidence meter

JL the wood as you know is there for support especially in a high vibration area . YOU may want to try two options .
1)see if you can place wood on the inside of the fuse where the cowl screws will catch and settle or after you know where your screws are , tap and place small plactic push rods in the holes, so that you screws are have an opportunity to catch into something solid .

LDM, The iron on cloth is made by supercoat. After you apply just prime and paint then seal. The texter is so good that it wont show through the paint.

Here is the picture of the rudder frame.I took 10mm off using the line that was scribed from factory. The rudder itself i took enough to have a flat serface.Might have it done tomorow.
