Hii propwashed,

ah now I got it. You mean the former for tank, smoke and pneumatic. Of course you can have it, but do you have the right dimension of those bottles, you need?

Cu,

Eric

Hi,

the best fit is a 215 radial MOKI. Ths sound and the size and weight are perfect.
But you also can use a 3W 150. [&o]

Hey Ad! You getting one of these? I shall have one someday, a DA150 fits in there as well (would be my choice behind the radial)

I just tried to put a DA 150 in the nose and the plug caps rub badly.
The 3w 150 plugs do not rub.

Go figure?

This is a heavy plane so I have an RCS (Moki) 250 on order to put in it.

shorter plugs? Id find a way to make it work in mine, or save the extra for the radial, those sound amazing.

I agree. Putting the DA 150 back in the MX2 and waiting on the RCS 250 to get here. Mid December is the latest time frame.

Hello John , Erich, Banker, Brink, propwashed and all of you Bearcat afficianados. Thanks for the advice re: radial vs opposed twins etc. I agree . Just need to know the max width I have to work with. Can I get 12 3/4 inches? Being an old Navy jock I have some recip time to go along with the turbine time. Nothing sounds like a big radial. I was treated to an air show by Bill Fornoff with his Bearcat back in the sixties. First maneuver was an immelman (sp) on tkof. WOW.

I sure like the way all of you are sharing info and helping each other with your projects. Hope some one will slap a ruler on that baby for me. Thanks guys --Ad Clark

I really need 12 3/4 inches!!!

My firewall is exactly 13" wide (looks like Tobbe's on the first page of this thread).

Just for the sake of clarity, the caps on the DA 150 fit but they rub and would eventually rub through.

Go with the radial.

Erich: How much does yours weigh? I can get hold of a used 215 reasonably cheap. Was wondring if it would be enough versus the 250.

Mine weighs right at 50lbs.

Banker-- Thanks for the info. I will have to build one of these and wil be watching this thread. Any one having cooling problems, are they opening up the cowl flaps per scale? Any beefing up reinforcing the glass etc? Are you folks using Seirra retracts? What engine were you using to get a weight of 50 lbs and is that wet or dry? Thanks, Ad

I'm pretty sure the wieght is very close between the 2 (215 vs 250) prob just a few oz. diff check the RCS site. The dimensions are the same.

Check out this thread: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_58...tm.htm#5853947

Read the post by ww2birds. He has helped me.

My weight is dry.

RC Showcase recommends baffling the radial engine for cooling.

Prop:

I was wondering whether a 215 would pull the 50lbs.

I see that my Bearcat was featured in the article on Warbird Flying in the most recent Model Airplane News! Too bad Rich did not have info on the owner, it mentions my engine (incorrectly) as an RCS 215 .. it's really a 250, and does not have my name on it .. sigh.

But .. really .. how cool is that!

Really really nice picture of the B'Cat on final though :-)

Hi banker,

the exact weight of my bearcat is about 19,6 kg---> 43,2 lb, dry. The power with the 215 is really enough. I have also a Solo Prop 28x20 on it.

Eric, do you know anything about the Bearcat shown inthis video: http://www.myvideo.de/watch/1207519
Owners name is Thomas PfĆ¼ller. I am interested in what size Moki he is using and the size of the prop.

Thanks.

Hi Jeff,

I know him very good. He is a friend of mine. He uses the same parts like me. A 215 radial and a Prop from SEP (germany). The size I donĀ“t know. I have to ask.

Hi Brink,

Sorry, have not gotten around to it .. the B'cat is still napping in my trailer, and I thought I should take it out to get some good pics.

I'll go out to the garage and see what I can do with it still in the trailer.

Hi Brink,

IĀ“m sorry, I donĀ“t sell firewalls. Mine is the original from the Fw190 from Airworld. It is made of fibreglass. But I have to say that this not my 100" recommendation. The firmness is not really good.
There is a second photo (friend of mine). That is a better version. Just have a look. It is made of plywood (4mm) and covered inside and outside with fibreglass. That works reliably.

Cu,

Erich

Hi Guys,

Here are the pics of the interior setup on my 3W Bearcat. Not the most "sanitary" install you'll see, but fuctional.

Using separate servos for tailwheel steering and rudder (so that I can mix a lot of tailwheel steering at low throttle, minimal above 1/4 throttle).

Futaba MSA-10 (like a Matchbox) for the two elevator halves mounted on the rear "shelf" in foam (was set up before I had the 14MZ in the plane .. would not need it now!)

Front two servos with CF pushrods are throttle (on top of picture) and choke.

Rx antenna runs in an outer nyrod back toward the stab inside the fuse.

50 oz fuel tank and 24 oz smoke tank with Don Harris pump.
