What ever happened with this plane? I loved reading the thread and have been eagerly awaiting a flight report... has it flown yet?

RE: Vailly FW 190 Build
More power and less weight is nice. I calculate your wing loading to be about 65, mine is 72. I too added around 3.5 lbs. WOndering what the da100 looks like in the cowl got any pics.
I am thinking of modifying the way I added the weights by putting in some aluminum bars around the engine box going forward, then moving my weights to the bars. THis should effectively move the weights forward from where they are now, thus decreasing the total weight I need to achive balance.

RE: Vailly FW 190 Build
I will try and take some pics its tight, totally baffled, my lead is epoxied into the very end of cowl I shaped it to fit outter ring I looked at doing a mount that would move it to same position without being attached to cowl but with baffling would be real pain to get cowl off. It does worry me that much weight afixed to cowl but so far no problems. as far as the DA100 fit 5/16th spacer on firewall all it needed the blisters need to be modified slightly unless you a competing at top gun I challenge anyone to find the difference. What I like most is with that engine I spin a 25x12 3 blade which looks so much better than a small 2 blade plus prop torque ads a challenge on take off.

First is scale of airplane ... wingspan = 34' 5" or 413" thus 413/90.5 = 4.56 scale or about half way between 1/4 and 1/5 scale.
Assuming 20mm wing gun... convert MM to inches... 20/25.4 =.787 inches and now dividing by scale factor.... .787/4.56=.172
The closes tubing I have found is .1875 inside which for most cases should work fine.

Thanks Dave. I'm actually looking for the outside diameter of the barrel rather than the inside diameter. From looking at pictures I'm guessing that the scale barrel might be around 3/8 inch diameter. I was wondering if you guys are using 5/16, 3/8, 7/16 for the scale diameter on the gun barrels.

Its been a ell of a long time. SO I will be brief and fill you in.
Problem 1 was I have never flown a heavy bird. So I made an interim model. the Ziroli 70 inch P-47. It came out at 21 lbs. I've been practicing with this one tillcrashed on landing (stalled) last Month. Here's a pic of the plane when it was good.

My Next Issue was how to transport this b___tch with my Honda Civic. My solution was a Harbor Freight trailer and a shell. Here are some pics and yes, that's the 190 inside.

RE: Vailly FW 190 Build
So I'm having my buddy do the maiden and guess what. Terrible cross wind but he tries anyway. We are flying at Lindsay AIrport in Oklahoma. The wind is from the East and the wind took it. THe plane went left and off of the runway into the grass, nosed over, broke the prop (see above pic), and scratched a gear door. Not a problem. Hopefully she will maiden in 2 weeks and actually take to the air. Wish me luck and sorry for such a long wait.
