Default H9 Corsair CG point

I would like to know what the consensus is on where the balance point is. Mine is at 5" and flys borderline tail heavy. 5" seems to far back.

5" is too far back. You want to be around 33% of root chord, which is almost 4-5/16". If you look inside the wing, the main spar is at 4.25". The plane should fly and land great with the CG set between 4" and 4-5/16". I plan to set my CG at 4.25" from the wing leading edge at the root.

So I'm not nuts, I rebalanced at 4-1/2", I'll see how this goes. It actually is tilted a little nose down at 4-1/2.

When I flew it before I noticed with full fuel and gear down the elevator was a little better. As the fuel burned off, landings got to be interesting. I experimented with the thrust angle giving it some down (The factory angle just looks funny) and I think this makes for more problems, so it's now back to spec. Check out the thrust in the attached photo.

Hanger 9 should update the CG location, they'll have some complaints coming their way. It's not unflyable at 5" but it's not a soothing warbird flight either.

Several people balanced this plane at 4-1/2", and their planes flew and landed great.
