Hey there Charlie, framing up the second wing panel. Really trying to catch up with this airframe. It is coming along well. Chic

Chic, I am glad to hear that you are making good progress.

My Dog has wings. I finished up the sanding, ailerons and flaps today. I hope to start glassing Monday.

I usually mount the RAM landing lights into larger reflectors that I get from the dollar store. They always had small flashlights that I could use the reflectors from. When I looked yesterday all they had were LED lights that don't have a reflectors. Does anyone know where I can get reflectors that are about 1" in diameter?

Charlie

Charlie, just finished framing up the 2nd panel. Need to install aileron, flap, duffle bag supply dump servo, and the landing lights. What is the diameter of the reflectors you are looking for? I'm sure you identify the item in the backgrd of one of the pictures. Chic

Charlie, referencing the diameter of the reflectors you are looking for, want to also verify I am using the correct size. I have alot of Dollar type stores around here, let me know. Chic

If I would read more carefully, I'd be dangerous (smile). 1" reflectors, rather large size when comparing with the reflectors that come with the RAM lights. I will look tomorrow, I would use the larger size myself. Thanks. Will let you know what I find. Chic

I looked in a few more stores today and found two small flashlights for $1.79 each. The reflectors were a little to large so I hit them on the belt sander. The landing lights are not the best but they will do for a daily flier.

The ElectroDynamics light sets look great but I wanted to go cheap on this project. I think I will spring for the ED set on my next project.

Now on to glassing the wings.

Looking good Charlie, they look about the same size as the RAM gear. Chic

All is well, we weathered the wind and rain quite well. First time in 21 years, we did not even lose power, it blinked several times but stayed on, God is good. Flooding was all around us but nothing like Jersey and New York. Sump pump did its thing. I feel so bad for the modelers who lost soooo very much. I just shake my head wondering how I would have suffered such a lost. Hope Larry has made it through ok. I love the Jersey Governor, I would have voted for him if he had run this time. I will vote for him in 2016. O'yes, I am a Reagan Democrat. I'm quite conservative in policy matters. Noah, thank you for asking about us. Thanks my friend. Chic

good to hear, Chic!

Yes, I forgot Larry is up in NY.... hope he fares OK, too.

And hey! Don't turn this thread political!!! (go, Obama!) Oops, did I just write that?!?!? Let the ostracization begin!!

It was a good week for my Birddog rehab. Now that the weather issues are behind us and things are back to normal, the temperature was good for painting. I was able to primer the whole Birddog and I got a coat of primer on my twin Beechcraft. I found a few rough spots on the fuselage to make repairs to and I am beginning the task of sanding the first coat of primer off of the wings.
With a little luck I will be able to get the second coat of primer on the wings this weekend.

Good eye. That is my wife's 69 Camaro. She bought it in 1970 and has kept it up ever since.

I did manage to get the Birddog wings sanded and hope to get another coat of primer on this weekend.

Whatever you guys do keep the tail lite so you don't have to add four pounds of lead to the firewall like I had too.
Mine is a nice flier but not a plane that like's the use of full flaps on landing, like my Mustangs. Very pitch senstive. Had to do a little repair from that.
Have a couple pics in my profile.

My Birddog rehab project had a good weekend. I put the second coat of primer on the wings Saturday morning. I sanded it off on Sunday and finished up the sanding this morning. This afternoon I got the third and final coat of primer on the wings. Tomorrow I hope to give them a light sanding and get started on the panel lines.

Hey Firebar, I have about a 1/4" or so overall additional height to compensate for. How did you make up for the extra height on the cabin area??? Chic
