Default 1/6 scale p-51d

hey guys looking for a 1/6 scale p-51 to build, but i want a fiberglass fuse. i thought i hit the jackpot with the brian taylor but its only 69". i'm looking at a wing in the high 70's to low 80's. the reason is because i already have new retracts,cowl, canopy and engine. i had a d&r that i was rebuilding but when i moved i decide to trash it. too much time in the attic had killed it! who knows whats out there? thanks jeff

I presume you are after a P-51d - there aren't many options I can think of at 1/6 scale with a fibre glass fuselage - try Innovative model products.

[link=http://www.impscale.com/index.html]Innovative Model products[/link]

They used to produce full kits which produce a fine looking model (see photo of my old one) but beware quality of some arts of the kits was questionable and the wing being scale is awfully thin near the u/c mounts which makes it prone to cracking.

There is also a 1/6 scale P-51B with a fibre glass fus in the US originally designed by Gene Barton I think - can dig out the link if interested.

Good luck

Jason

The Gene Barton B model was being offered by Aeroloft designs but I've heard they have sold the rights to Yellow Aircraft and it is not currently available. I would do much research before purchasing from IMP. I had an IMP P-51D many years ago and it was awful. However, they may have something better these days.

I have purchased three ImpScale planes in the past 18 months.

The MiG-3, the Bf109E and another plane. I've never had issues with any of the plans or kits. Claude's plans are very nice and the laser cutting done is top notch.

Maybe you could be a little more specific with the retracts and engine? That would help.

bob i have jag engines ryobi 31cc, robart 622 1/6 scale p-51 retracts, fiberglass specialties scale cowling and canopy. all of this was bought when i was remodling my old d&r p-51. it was a 78" sheeted foam airplane and flew awesome! was flying it with an old g-22 but had the ryobi built so it would stay in the cowling. if i can't find anything looks like i will be buying the fuse from engel and use the imp plans for the wing and tail. i'll have foam cut for the wing tail and then cover with fliteskin. i want to practice with the fliteskin before meister releases the new b model.
thanks for the link jason, i contacted engel and he said he would have me a price together with shipping at the beginning of next week. hope its not too bad! jeff

Not sure if this is what you want, but- Atec Models has a 72 inch "composite" P-51D. their web site is www.atecmodels.com. they show some dealers in the US. Its $449 according to their web site. They say it has panel lines and rivets molded in, and is painted as it comes to you.

not really a kit but is in the size range I think you want.
