Ya time fly over at Zach's, I usually only have Sundays to work on it, we work as a team and get three times done as one it feels. Its nice to have a hand when you're building, someone to hold a piece or give another suggestion. Then we have friends stop by and give some other advice helps too, thanks guys, That keeps us motivated. Can't wait to start my project...LOL

we need help to figure out what to do with the wire that comes straight down into the fuse from the rudder. the plans told us to sodder a tiller arm on it we tried that on anouther pice of wire to see how strong it was and we broke it vary easy, i will not trust that this exspensive of a plane. so if please send us some ideas. thank you. here are some pics of progress and the pic with the two control rods and the wire in the middle is what i am talking about.

If it just needs something to hold it in place, I'd do one of two things; either put a wheel collar on it, snugged up to the under surface of the balsa, or cut it a bit short, use a die to thread it, and use a nut/lockwasher.
If you soldered the tiller arm and it broke off, you did not get the wire hot enough, or it wasn't clean enough; but I understand completely about not wanting to trust all that time and effort to one small thing like that. You guys are hauling *** on this build, I can't believe how much you get done. Looks great, can't wait to see the engines hanging on it.

It seems that even if you manage to solder an arm to it, the bottom will need to be supported to keep the rod centered.
I'm guessing that the vertical fin is pretty wide on such a large plane so it seems like it would be best to put a servo in the vertical fin and use a pull/pull or a ball/socket set up and put an access hatch on it for servicing.
That puts extra weight back there but it also gives you very positive control.
Just thought of another option if there's not much room in the vertical fin:
Still use the pull/pull or ball/socket but run some sullivan flexible gold-n-rod to a servo up by the wing.
It looks like it would be difficult to do any reliable silver soldering to that wire while it's inside the fuse.

I'm assuming those are G-38's, which normally turn about an 18X10 prop so are those Zinger 4-bladers around 15X8's?
Post your RPM's when you test them: I'm interested in what works for 4-blades on a G-38.
That'll look cool with 4 blades spinning.

Heavy guage brass tubing that is aneat fit over the shown wire from the rudder. Grind a flat on the wire.
Drill and tap 2 x 4-40 holes on the brass tubing. Silver solder (braze) 4-40 nuts over the holes for addtional purchase.
silver solder(braze) a brass control arm at the end of the brass tubing, I would add some brass gussets as well if required. Drill ends of the control arm so it can be used for pull pull rudder control.
all the silver soldering (brazing) can be down outside the model. The tube is slid over the end of the wire rudder rod, the 4-40 bolts are tightened and you hook up the pull pull wires.

I just tuned into this build. Looking good! For your rudder control I'd suggest you thread the end of the rod and tight double-nut it from both sides and loctite. If you really want to be safe flatten one side of the threaded rod and then file the hole in the tiller arm up to size so that it wouldn't turn even if the nuts were to loosen (which they won't if they're double nutted). I'd then run a pull/pull system with the servo up front and running cable back to the tiller arm. This would be the most positive and lightest setup IMO.

Again, Beautiful Plane!
Still gonna build a smaller one, but just lost the mentor to the project:
Radio/Gunner Harry Dahlheimer passed last wednesday. 344th BG / 496th BS 67 missions over France in B-26 Marauders.

G’Day Zach,
What a great project. Just stumbled on your site. I’m in the planning stages for a B-26A build to honour my deceased father. He flew B-26A’s in Africa and the Med during the WWII. Was awarded the DFC for one of his missions.
He spent a lot of time instructing on the “killer” A model. Including hours of single engine work. As a result, they never lost an aircraft, in training or on a mission, that could be attributed to the Marauder being a hot aircraft. He loved it. Used to enjoy running away from DH Mosquitos and other “hot” aircraft.
I’m looking at a 71” model. Have been drawing up the plans myself from the Wylam drawing.
I look forward to reading the first flight accounts from your project!!
