Winston,
Did it work for you on the first try? I'm going to do it on My 1/4 scale Corsair. I love your idea. Very inventive. I already ordered the mold release. Is the mold release that thin clear film I see you peeling off in one of your pictures? My canopy as your 1/4 scale canopy has a protective film. Would you leave it on and just paint the mold release over that?
Very nice,
Barry

Thanks for the info and incouragement. I sure wish you would finish that piece of art your building and enjoy some of the fun[:-] I'm having with Dons plans and good luck with the wood. Rest assured you will be buying a lot of it to make his plans into a Corsair. I have been close to throwing the whole thing in the scrap pile and going with a 100" Meister and just making flaps for it. If I didn't already have a bunch of DOW spent on this Ark I would do just that.

RE: The making of a canopy frame
Barry your doing fine on the DS corsair build i think .Its just he left so much for the builder to figure out.I think if you was to have added flaps to the meister kit it would have been just as big a pain .Peice of art well thanks but its far from that .I ve been working on it so long now i have gotten burned out Building it cant weight till the Ds kit comes in for some fun the price has went up alot (around 100 dollars ) since you ordered yours so mabie it will have more wood in it

Well I'm doing the best I can with what I have. I am determined to have a piece of art when I'm done. Are you still getting your kit cut at Laser Cut USA?

Winston,
Instead of making a mold for the canopy, can't I do it before I cut out the canopy.? That is the correct shape I think?

The instructions here work well. Barry mold release can be a wax or PVA solution that is water soluable. I suggest you do a practice run before hand. IMHO its best to use the release agent right one the part to be molded. Better fit and more detail if its there.

RE: The making of a canopy frame
Barry you can do that just need to make shure that the styrein does not spread out or is misshaped to begin with at the bottom were it attaches to the fuse . thats why i made the wood piece to prevent that .Its a pain to get the fiberglass to bend and stay a shape that it was not molded to be
Your welcome foodstic glad you like the info

Winston,
Thanks for taking taking the time to produce this thread. I would have never thought to do that. I can't wait to get home from work and try it.
