Default An Apology to Kelvin at Keleo Creations

Last year I posted some criticism on here about a custom exhaust that Kelvin built for me for an RCV engine that is going into a TopFlite Corsair. I was frustrated enough at the time that I took a break from the build for several months. Now that I have gotten back to it, I find that while the exhaust isn't perfect - it will be very usable. The header design is actually quite innovative, and I would highly encourage Kelvin to add these to his menu of standard offers. I also know now that Kelvin was under a lot of stress at the time that came through in his initial reply to me. I regret not picking up the phone and working out the problem rather than venting here. Kelvin and I have talked today, he graciously accepted my apology. So I would like to step up here and formally say that I was wrong. I'll do what I can to dress up the posts in question. Please accept my apologies as well for my lack of judgement on the forum.

Tom

Tom,
only one direction and that is forward my friend. Good to see you have put it in the past and worked a resolution. I'm sure Kevin is happy too.

Been there and done that myself so do empathise with you.

Good luck on your build.

cheers
Peter

i think what kelvin does is awesome work and highly secialized. who are we going to turn to when he decides to retire from this work? if you think about it he is building a higly detailed part and relying on a few pictures and measurement's from us to build from. so think about what can go wrong in the process of all this if we are a little off in our measurement's and angles. i know i wouldn't want to be on his end when it comes to building these products.
i've successfully built my own custom exhaust for my vailly L-5 and it will be my last! took 4-5 nights working late and then had to turn around and build again because i had too many restrictions. keep up the good work kelvin[sm=thumbup.gif] jeff

hey Tom: Good for you admitting you were wrong, and in front of everyone too. More of us need to do this and follow your example. Twould be a much nicer rc world. I hope this encourages the rest of us to follow suit and kick that pride aside for once. Blue skies

Probably nothing. If go to Kelvin's website you will see he isn't doing custom work anymore.

What a shame. I hope someone else will come along that does the custom stuff.

Hats off to you Tom. Nice to find guys out there with the guts to do the right thing when a mistake was made. There is so little of it on the net these days and its refreshing to see guys like you step up to the plate when it’s called for.

I too am working with Kelvin on my Aeroworks 51 project. I installed a DA 85 with a 4 blade Solo Prop and need the custom work he provides to get the scale exhaust. I won't have it for another month so I decided to use the pitts muffler to get her in the air now. I ordered another cowling and will start working on it to prepare for the new system.

Kelvin is a good guy but has no staff to help him. I know he is trying to find someone he can depend on but until then it's a frustrating wait.

Your exhaust looks really good and I am sure you are happy with your project. Thanks for giving us the information but more importantly your honest report. It helps everyone in the RC world when guys like you give us credible postings. Wouldn't it be a great world if everyone had the balls to be honest.

Fred

Good job SMU. You Dunn Good. I'm glad there are a few guys still left out there like you. Not too many forgiving people(modelers) around these parts of the Midwest in Minnesota.

What a strange coincidence. I only look at these forums every 3-4 months now, but I dropped by today and this thread was on the front page. My RC hobby is has been on hold for a couple of years since I unexpectedly "inherited" a 1939 wooden boat. All of my shop time and money has been devoted to that project. http://www.woodenboat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=110427

Glad to see that everyone here is still keeping the faith.

Tom
