If the weather permits I should be able to see a Mustang and a FW-190 fly tomorrow.

Mine arrived today, very few wrinkles, mainly the elevators have some minor wrinkles, and a few small ones on the wing, but majority of the covering is great. No damaged parts that I can see, at least not out of the box, I dropped the damned stab behind my work bench and put a couple gouges in it.

Going to fly it with my Saito 100 GK, and swap out the air retracts from my kit Stang which will be getting electrics instead.

Go with the 85 degree eflite retracts using Robart struts and wheels.

A sight worth waiting 70 years to see! FW 190 being chased by a P 51.

I and others used the 90 degree retracts because by the time you shim them so they fit in the wing all the way the angle will be correct. If you use the 85deg they will not retract far enough in to allow the doors to fit flush. If you go back near the beginning you will see that issue being discussed.

Ditto. This one takes the 90deg to close up properly.

OK I have some balancing questions, would like to nail it down to Gear up or gear down. The manual has them down, some say to do it up. In either case mine has come out nose heavy. I moved the battery all the way back and had to add around 1 ounce for it to balance. I swapped the one Life pack with a slightly heavier one and reduced it to about a 1/2 ounce. I set my balance jig to 5 5/16" from the leading edge, gear down.

Not sure if I have the pointer in the right spot though,

Balance with gear up. Its much easier to add an ounce to the tail to fix a nose heavy plane than vice versa. Start slightly nose heavy and see how it flys. Then slowly move the CG back until it flys perfect.

I also have three extra parts that I have no clue what they are for, not shown in the manual. one flat piece with holes, and two curved parts that fit the notches in the flat piece. It looks like a shelf of some sort, so thinking it goes on the firewall for electric power.

Probably the air tank holder parts for the optional pneumatic retracts.

Not the air tank but the air valve. Or for the retract servo in the wing.

Something to mention is that I locate the battery in the tailwheel hatch, and then I added 1 once to the tip of the tail to balance with the Saito 100 on the nose.
Reading through the posts, looks like this is pretty much how mine is coming out with the Saito 100. Now to figure out what I need to attach the nose cone, since neither nut has the correct threads. Going to read through some more posts. Plane was a really easy build, I got it Saturday and spent a few hours Sunday and half the day today and other than balance, the cowl and setting throws, its done.

I can't remember but I thought there was an adapter included that the threads fit. You bolt that onto the end of your prop shaft. I had to dremmel off some of the threads on the spinner bolt to get it to bolt all the way in. Someone else may know better.

Look at the last post on page 1.

Saito Users, NOTE: The spinner adapter nuts are 5/16 x 24 thread (for O.S. 4 strokes and mosr 2 strokes). BUMMER! That means you may have to purchase something seperately from Tower or otherwise to get youe spinner to bolt up to your engine. The Saito 1.00 has 8 mm x 1.25 thread, so this adapter may work.
Maybe this one? May need to buy a long 10 x 32 allen bolt tho:

OR, for a few dollars more:

Page 1, no wonder I missed it, I started at post 57. Thanks. BTW 85* and 90* retracts. I found I had to shim my Eflites a bit on the inside to allow them to fully retract into the bay with the wheels on. It put them exactly at the same angle the stock retracts are at. Since I need to wait for the different nuts, I might just pull the retracts out and see what I need to do to beef the rails up.

THose parts I found, there are 3 others not identified. Large square part and two triangular but one side curved. I thought when I unpacked it that it would be internal support for the air scoop. I'll get a pic of it next time I am in the shop.

I changed the battery configuration in my plane. Before I was using two parallel 1100 LiFe packs for the rx/servos and a separate LiOn pack for the ignition. I found that I was drawing more capacity from the LiFe's than I prefer....approximately 275 ma per 10 min flight for the rx/servos; and only about 50 ma for the ignition. I'm now using dual 1700 mah LiFe's for both the servos and the ignition. The new configuration has a little more total capacity and weighs a few grams less than before. I figure I can fly 6 ten minute flights and still stay near 50% of the battery capacity. Now I only have two batteries to manage instead of three.

I had extra wood pieces too but having extra parts left over after an assembly project is par for the course for me.

I have an OS 95v on mine and twice now it has thrown the spinner and prop during engine break-in. It scared the crap lout of my the first time it happened. I've never had a problem with the nuts coming loose before and not sure what I'm doing wrong. I have a double nut combo with the second being an adapter for the spinner bolt. I took a socket wrench and tightened as much as I could muster so will see if that helps.

FYI - It's been a while, but I used a Dave Brown adapter nut with my Satio 115 (same case and probably shaft as the 100). The big question is long or short version. This depends on the length of your prop shaft.

I believe the parts are for the mounting of the retract servo. I also had to order a new adapter to fit my DLE engine and then went to the hardware store to get the correct length bolt. Balance gear up and I would not trust that C.G. machine as far as I could throw it, I had one and for bigger planes it is very inaccurate in my book. I use a vanessa rig now and it is so simple a Geko could do it I added some weight in the tail weel area also, as well as move the battery back to the area behind the saddle. Reinforce the landing gear area if you fly off grass, can't stress that enough.
