Default Warbirds over Denver June 13-14-15

Just wanted to know who is planning to attend and and what are you planning on flying.

Several of us are driving the 950 miles from Minnesota down for the event. I think around $800.00 in gas should be about right.

We will be staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Littleton till Monday

I plan on bringing a Yellow Spitfire and a BUSA 1/4 scale DR I triplane. I would like to bring a Meister 109, but dont know if we have enough room...

Let us know.

Thanks

Rebel

Rebel, I think I was pit next to ya at the Warbirds over the Rockies. I guess you made your choice as to which one you are going to.
I am planning on going, it just sucks because there is pylon race that day as well. My other passion.
I will have my Fokker DR1 and my Fokker DVII. I have added more detail to the DVII to prepare it for a scale contest later in July.
I hope to see you guys, it was fun hanging out and flying formation.

Rebel,
Glad to hear you guys are coming to Denver! Lora's gotten a bunch of preregistrations but I can't remember if she got one from you. We did get Cal's...is he bringing his TF B25?? I hope so as it'd be lovely to see a gaggle of Mitchel's. I've been getting the planes checked out and working hard to finish my new TFGS 'Stang...it should be ready to maiden next weekend. We're really looking forward to having you guys out and are already planning on the Owatonna event. Hey, have you heard whether Dave Z. will be making the trip?

Doug, Cal no longer owns his B-25. He sold it to a local guy. He never flew it. I donlt think the other guy ever flew it either. It is still a virgin [sm=71_71.gif]

Thanks Jeff. I suspect when he sees how good they look and how well they fly he'll buy it back and pop that cherry! When do you guys plan on rolling in?

Last Saturday of May we had a bad storm. Tom Steinmueller's house was struck by lightning and was heavily damaged. Fire was in the attic above sheetrock but water and smoke did the rest of the damage. House has to be gutted down to the studs. He does not think he will be making the trip now, understandably. You would not believe the amount of big airplanes he had in there. I did find a Ziroli Bearcat with a very little smoke smell on it, that might just need a new home. Plane hasn't flown in about 12 years now, and the wing had about a pound of peanuts out in the wingtip.
We plan on leaving on Wednesday at 7pm from Phill's house, so we should be coming in at around 10 or 11 am on Thursday morning if all goes according to plan.
Did you get my registration form? Talk to you soon.

Doug, really looking forward to Denver. The Pueblo gang will be bringing some new iron this year, I have a new Ki-61 Tony and a rebuilt corsair, Duane will hopefully have a new 25 and Sam will have a P-51B as well as a new Zero. With all that has happened this year just showing up will be a big highlight. We will be in Friday, sure we will have a great time.

Rebel, I'm pretty sure Lora got your preregistration...sorry to hear about Tom's house. Give him our regards and tell him we'll see him in Owatonna! We are well ahead of any past year in preregistrations...looks like a nice turnout is to be expected. I believe the storage tent will be set up Thursday and all ready for youse guys.

Larry, glad to hear y'all are making the trip! We're looking forward to seeing you and your new hardware. I thought Duane was bringing up a new TFGS Corsair as well. He didn't tell me he was working on a new B25...can't wait to see and hear a bomber gaggle! Clark and I have been practicing with the Corsairs and are anticipating some nice tight formation flights with you and Duane! I'm getting stoked!!

The only day I could attend would be Sunday. Not sure if I'll make it down or not. Depends on whether or not a few others from up here go as well. If I get down there and actually fly, I'll probably have my repainted H9 1.50 P-51

I just wanted to whet yer' whistle for the fun and adventure will be happening here in Denver this next weekend! All these pics were taken at the Chatfield flying site in preparation for Warbirds Over Denver. My TFGS P51B reincarnation of "Princess" was successfully maidened last weekend...can't wait for the Mustang gaggle! It sports a 3W75 with Sierra gear and inner gear doors...they fly great don't they! Can you tell I'm getting excited?

Here's a few more including one of me and Clark practicing for an RC "Heritage Flight". There's also some cool vids I shot on youtube...just do a search for B25's at Chatfield. If you've never been to this event you should check it out. The field is truely one of the nicest in the country and the hosting club is simply awesome. WWII fighter pilot Dick Hewitt will be on hand autographing his book and will speak at the banquet on Saturday night. Check the website for more details and shots of previous years Warbird events...www.warbirdsoverdenver.com. See you there!

can you register to fly onsite? I still dont know if'll be able to make it on sunday or not. Also, Im installing a gyro on the rudder/tail wheel of my P-51 because its rather squirly on takeoff. So, I'm not sure I can even get a test flight in this configuration before the weekend. As such, Id be very hesitant to bring it down there not knowing how its going to react

50 preregistered pilots so far...not bad! Should be a nice turnout. Weather looks promising for the weekend...84 on Saturday, 86 predicted on Sunday....YEEHAW!!! Lets go fly!!!

I'm looking forward to seeing some pics of this event. Hopefully next year I can make the trek out with the Minnesota crew.

Make sure to get some good incriminating pics of Phil. I need something to help me wrestle his Corsair away from him.
