RE: KMP Corsair
You were fortunate. When my engine quit I was in the middle of a turn trying to get back for a landing. The plane did and excellent elevator, with a splat at the bottom.

RE: KMP Corsair
Hi Lynn1130,
Sorry about your wing breaking.
As I've not put mine together yet I've done a copy of the joiner for you in PDF format.
Should come out full size when you down load.
Cheers,
Phil

I am now down for repairs and so I thought that I would post this as a word of warning to those of you still building. To those that are flying it is a word of warning for inspection.
My engine decided to quit in flight so, no biggy. I dropped the gear, set up for a dead stick and lined up on the runway. My speed got a little low as I was about a foot above the runway and the plane set down a little hard on the left main. Not hard enough to damage the gear or gear mounting area but hard enough to snap the wing panel joiner (which is very week plywood). The panel came completely off and stuck the rear stab taking about 2 inches off of the horizontal.
In all the damages are very minor compared to what it could have been had the joiner failed in flight. I will be replacing the wing panel a carbon fiber joiner and reinforcing the other wing.
Oh, and if anyone has a joiner that was not installed and they would like to part with, I could use a template.

Mine has yet to fly but I'm very interested in what happened to yours. Thanks

My wing panel broke off too. I think there is a need to better prep the surface before using the epoxy. I just scuffed it a bit and then glued.
If I'm able to repair this thing I'm going to remove the covering in that area.

Thanks NZPhil. That helps greatly,
Yes the wing was epoxied as well as the joiner. It would appear that the epoxy did not cure well to the panel and center section which added to the weakness. That will be corrected with the repair.

HI Guy's ,Not sure if the info I'm looking for is in this tread ,didn't see it but I'll ask. What are you guy's using to get threw the clear coat to rub of the markings. I want to keep the tri color and add just the blue round and white star markings. and I'm going to make a bird cage canopy for it. I found a actual picture of one.
Thanks

RE: KMP Corsair
Hi, i'm a new user from Italy. My Name is Stefano and i've bought a new ESM '74 Corsair.
I'm receiving in these days all the hop-up that i need to complete this warbird. Tomorrow i'll buy an Os 160 from a friend of mine.
In this week i've received the scale cockpits and the 1/6 Pilot from VQwarbirds, and the lado retracts. I'm still waiting the Frank Tiano Dummy engine, the canopy rails a linear actuator by Firgelli for the sliding canopy an other little things.
I've chosen to use lado because the ESM retract system is good but you cannot say the same about their air system.
I don't want to mess with an air system. No additional servo, no air leaks, no air tubes, no tank...
The RS 666 pair model is perfect. You must only buy an 6/32 tap.
It took me an hour to install on both.
It's better to use a 6+V source otherwise the slider may not complete his work, due to a 15 second stop secure time.
I've talked to Christophe (Lado Retract) and he will change the stop secure time to 20 second for the new units.
Is there someone that use the robart 121 plastic retract tail wheel?
Is that capable to support the plane weight? Someone use the metallic bigger version?
Thanks for the replies.
Stefano.

Looks good. So Lado is actually shipping retracts? I've read all kinds of stories of guys waiting 6mos or more for theirs.

RE: KMP Corsair
Not sure what the 160 weights but you are going to need a lot of weight on the nose. I had a converted G-38 that was in the 55oz range and still had to add 28 oz of powered steel to the cowl to get mine to balance at 4 1/2. great flying plane at that CG. lost mine to a radio lock out. am getting another one in Jan when they come back avialible.

The os 160 Gemini's weight is 1100g (38.8oz), but i'm looking to a FEMA onboard engine starter to add some weight

May you tell me something about the rear retractable wheel?
Another question for you. Is there an alternative for a scale hub o there is only "truturn" products?

Thank you for the advice. When i received the plane i found an errata corrige from Modellbau Lindinger regarding the cg. The true CG should be a 115 mm from the beginning of the wing measured near the fuselage.

Hi guys, some news.
I was waiting a package from VQwarbirds with the 1/6 Pilot, the cockpit and one clear lexan canopy. When i opened it i dscovered that the seller don't sell clear canopy anymore.
So i've decided to build it by myself. Today i've finished the vacuum forming machine.
This two photos are the first mould.
Stefano.

RE: KMP Corsair
Today i've created the engine support and installed it on the firewall with 2° degree to the right.
Prepared the cowl for working flaps, received the Frank Tiano dummy engine and partially assembled the cockpit.
I've received also a 1/6 US pilot with the cockpit but the finitures, the painting work and the general appearance was very crappy, so i trashed it and ordered a new pilot from
Monkey Depot.

RE: KMP Corsair
No more ESM corsair's owners?
Am I the last one? Ok.
The project is going on, slowly but going.
I've finished the dummy engine, installed it over a sheet of ply and mounted in the cowl.
I've prepared the inner ring that support the cowl cutted for the cowl flaps and it's servos.

RE: KMP Corsair
You're not alone. I just finished mine a month ago and flew it successfully twice in St. George. Haven't flown it since d/t the weather. On my first landing a screw backed out of the gear and was causing the R wheel to drag which made it tough to keep on the runway. It flies great otherwise.

RE: KMP Corsair
I also have a new one coming to replace my old one. I have been waiting for them to come back in stock. I loved the way that mine flew before and power was perfect with a G-38! Needed about 29ozs of powered steel up front to balance it at 4 1/2.
