Øistein Aanensen,

Greetings!!! WE are glad you are making the trip to BOMBERFIELD!! You will have a great time... When are you arriving?

Just ask for the "COONASS SQUADRON" when you arrive... Pete, and KRUM will meet you, introduce you to BB , Nick, David, Randy, Evan, Barry, Paul, and all the regulars... get ready for a great time!

Come over to the "TANK BATTLEFIELD" and say hello .... ask for TOMAS,,, I'll get you behind the sticks of some R/C TANK ACTION !

-SEE YOU FELLAS SOON!!

CHEERS!
Thanks for he greeting mate! We will arrive friday the 12th around noon time, then we will be off to Buckys and Barry to pick up the aircrafts and make them ready for some decent flying. Only thing is that this Ike guy is distracting is a little bit at the moment. I will for sure look you up, looking forward to see all the great guys at Bomber.

Cheers .

ELECTRICAL is now being put in by the CO-OP and RANDY and crew is finishing the loose ends this coming weekend...

so all you with RV's and Hobby Box TRAILERS can now rent the hookups !!! First come first served!!!

and that fellow Ike should be over this coming weekend... i hope it leaves everyone with only some rain...

-CHEERS!

Barry:
I found a guy in The Nederlands that sells the F-84.
Are you happy with the plane?

How has the wide gear held up?

Is the outline close

Has anyone looked at Bomber Field since Ike passed by? How much damage? Is it still on for next weekend?

i dont think there will be much left. my girlfriends house is 42 miles from bomber field and she has severe damage. a big pecan tree is uprooted and laying in the pasture, nothing but a big hole where it was. we think a tornado hit her maybe. i was planning on being there if it is still on and if i'm not on top of a roof scraping shingles next saturday.

Sure sorry to hear that Jeff. I've been watching KHOU channel 11 in Houston and I would be surprised if BB's hanger survived. I sure hope they evacuated the Bear bomber and the other planes.

We can hope for the best.

Hey Guys, I just talked to BB on the phone. There is no damage to bomber field or any of the structures. Lots of water on the ground but no flooding or wind damage at all. BB says the show is still on!
See you all there.

That's spirit. The show must go on. I just love the american spirit ! We could use some more of that in little norway.

We were not able to go as planned due to IAH closing, but we will make another attempt monday. If you need manpower to make the show happen, count the 4 norwegians in

Hope you all are safe and sound.

What's the power outage situation there? My daughter lives in the Woodlands, TX and they are still without power. The IAH is still closed, but scheduled to reopen soon I hope. Do you have any sites I can visit to get updated info on the power, etc. before I head down there?
Thanks and best of luck,
Steve

I understand that Mac Hodges crashed the B-29 when a wing folded today.

Weather is supposed to be nice with fairly low temps and humidity for the next few days. Been real dry around here this summer and the water will soak up real quick. IAH is supposed to be fully operational by Monday according to the news. They had some structural damage mainly on terminal B but should be repaired quickly. Power situation at Bomber questionable but shouldn't affect the show besides the RV hookups, PA, and the mess hall. That may or may not be remedied. Otherwise the show should go on as planned! The (B29 crash) can be seen on u tube. Been a bad couple of weeks for Mac and the crew. A real shame to see all this happen to them. Paul

JUST GOT BACK from an all day at BOMBER FIELD... [sm=thumbup.gif]

NO DAMAGE !!! WE ARE TRULY BLESSED!! Only that the 2 port-o-potty's were on their sides... and a few brave souls righted them...
luckily they had just been "FRESHENED" so they were clean and only a little "BLUE MAGIC JUICE" got out [:-]

OK.... yes it was wet until 12 NOON !!! [sm=drowning.gif]

THEN THE SUN CAME OUT and dried up all the rain... and the itsy bitsy spider climbed up the wall again !!![sm=bananahead.gif]

Really gents.... IT IS ALL GOOD !!! Just for those who don't know... the soil, clay out there really soaks up the rain fast...

IN fact by the time I left today at 7pm about 1/2 of the water that was on the ground , especially be RV PARKING ROW and infront of our TEXAS ARMOR CLUB HOUSE was 1/2 way absorbed....

BB and Nick and the rest of us were at work... Things will be perfect for this weekend... THE water WILL be gone by WEDNESDAY!

WEATHER IS EXPECTED TO BE SUNNY ALL WEEK and will really help to get rid of that water!

as MESCHMIDT has posted... Randy's electric crew was unable to complete the final hook=up due to the HURRICANE... he had them go assist all their friends and family and public in Galveston, Houston areas who are right now without electricity...

So .... HERE ARE THE PHOTOS... for you all who know RANDY and those who don't.... HE SAID TO GET YOUR TAILS DOWN THERE NOW!!! also George Jones and Mrs Jones from New Mexico also arrived today....

Nick Stratos also has his RV trailer in position already...

SO YOU ALL THERE... COME BY THE TEXAS ARMOR BATTLEFIELD, check out the action, pick up a tank from RC COMMAND, do some battling AND SAY HI!

hey dale! i'm hoping to be there. i was planning on going until the storm tore up my girlfriends house pretty good. i will be at her place this weekend working and i hope we can get away for a little while to ride over. i was all hyped up to finally see mac hodges b-29 in person since he wasn't at atlanta. have you guys given any thought to the hotel situation? if the hotels are full of evacuee's they will not honor your reservation. we ran into that after katrina so we had to cancel the rest of our boat racing schedule due to no hotels.

Jeff, I called the Best Hempstead Inn yesterday just for the purpose of asking if my reservation would be honored. They said yes that it would be honored.

I'll be trying to get there as soon as possible.. Right now, I understand that I-10 is closed with water over the roadway between Orange, TX and Vidor. I was leaving Kenner, LA. tomorrow, which would put me in Monaville in the early afternoon; however, now I will first call the Texas Highway Patrol to see if I -10 has been reopened. Some of the other guys in the Coonass Squadron will not be making it unless the water goes down. Wayne Moore lives up in Monroe and he has 2 feet of water all around his home. Fortunately he is built up; but, it takes a boat to get from the roadway to his front door. Pete Boudreaux is watered in with Hwy 90 being closed and some of the other roads going north to the interstate are flooded. Pete is on a virtual island now with no way to go north.
I missed Bomber Field last year because my wife had major back surgery, so I am really going to try to make it this year, LORD WILLING AND THE CREEK DON'T RISE. Which has a very vivid meaning to me at this point in time.. I don't want my motor home to become a 24,000 pound ATV.
