The plane is totaled. Fuselage is totaled. Wings might be repairable with lot of work. No, not really. I cleaned the engine and measured runout on the shaft. Not bent that I can tell. Mounted to test stand and ran ok. I checked, the gyro was not from Nitro Planes but Hobby King. I should know not to use anything electronic from HK. I think the gyro malfunctioned and because it was connected to the radio battery for power and the rudder for control, when it started to malfunction it interfered with the radio receiver even though it was 2.4. I have a gyro from Nitro Planes which cost four times as much as the one from HK. it is in my Koyosho Corsair. Over fifty flights with no problem. Expensive lesson. No more cheap HK gyros.

Most of the hard ware survived ok. All the servos checked out ok. I've got a 73" wing span KMP Hurricane with an RCGF 20cc engine. It is really a little under powered, but with a lot of nose weight added. It looks like the NGH 35 will fit. It did ok with the after market muffler, so maybe the Hurricane needs an engine swap.

It's been a long time since I've posted on this thread - only just starting to get back into RC flying.

Question for all the CMP BF109 ppl out there - would a Saito F180 pull one of these things ok?

Hang on a minnie, RBean... didn't you say earlier, and I quote "I installed gyro stabilizer from Nitro Planes. They were on sale for $19 so I bought three. Only hooked up the rudder and the gain at about 1/3".

So... was it a Nitro Planes gyro, or a Hobby King one?

Mine has flown with an Evulation 30cc and a Saito FG30. It flys pretty much the same with both all though it sounds so much better with the FG30 in it. The FG30 is the gas version of the 180 but it does not require so much fuel.

I love how this plane flyers!

I have a BF109 new in box and plan on reorganizing my storage next week.
In the event that you still need the plans by mid week I may be able to copy a set for you.
However knowing your ability and other build threads I think you will find the CMP plans humerous and in most cases even the CG is wrong.
My point is I think you could assemble this plane blindfolded

I only want to know how many servos should be in the wings because of flaps.

2 servos for the two mid wing flaps, and 2 servos for the inner wing flaps. If you make the upper inner wing spoilers active.... You can use thin wing servos on a separate channel or connect through mechanical linkage to bottom oil cooler flaps.
I used a matchbox to run all four flaps off one channel....and thin wing for the upper wing spoilers on different channel.
CG should be 108-112mm from leading edge against the fuse

That is what I need to know for my project. I´ve already prepared some parts and draw formers for my 82" Bf-105 G6 project. I´m looking around all Bf-109 project and their flaps system.

"and thin wing for the upper wing spoilers on different channel."

Chuckling, I don't know why that bothers me so much...maybe I am OCD or something but those are not spoilers...they are radiator coolant openings and are not used as spoilers in any means..the pilots even mentioned that when operated they had little effect on the trim of the aircraft. They were operated by a thermostat with a manual over ride in case the thermostat failed and the temperature was getting too high...

Sorry for being so OCD about this but it has been covered in the previous forums many times.. just trying to be accurate in scale presentations Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays!!!!

Warbird Al , while you are 100% correct the problem is it's incorrect as far as RC. So Kat is actually correct because we are looking at functions as far as an RC model and how they will impact the model in RC flight.
That is the problem with scale vs RC scale, because the radiator coolant function obviously will not exist on an RC model. So the key is or choice is how do you have an operating wing function add value to your flying model.
1) Make them function with some flap value ?
2) make them functional with possible airbrake value ?
3) or simply make them functional with scale value but little value for improving flight in an RC model.
I am at the same crossroads with planning for my Dauntless. I know I won't use the dive brakes with the exception of an occasional dive attack lol, and making the lower dive break part of the flap execution would be much more useful and effective. So the decision comes down to what one modeler wants vs another.

I shoe gew’ed the radiator servo (std size 40 oz-in servo)to the top of the inner flaps( std size 99 oz-in servo). Makes installing theservos a bit of a pita, but doable. Each runs off its own channel inner flap, outer flap, and radiator gate. Then boy wonder (son) did some programming magicand mad it so inner flap only moves 1/3 as much as radiator gate until they areopen about .5 in. Then if I move the flap slider the flaps deploy as expected. SoI can taxi w the radiators open, then I just need to remember to close them b4takeoff.
I bought match box to simplify it but no joy yet
Planned to maiden last year, hope to do it this year.

Hi 109's flyers !

I finally get one brand new from a friend.

I know that question came here many times but I need to make a choice for the engine.

At home I have CRRC Pro GP26R, Roto 35 VI and OS FS 200 Surpass...which one would be better for this bird ?

I prefer to go with gas engine....

Thanks !
Pascal

I know the thread has gone quiet but just managed to get my hands on a NIB 109.

was wondering is anyone has a Ty’s spinner or a set of sierras they are willing to part with?

Loss my 109 a couple of years ago with a gyro malfunction. Don't ever use Hobby King electronics. The Sierra retracts survived. I have the retracts and wheels. Kept thinking I would get another similar sized 109, but never have. I can part with them. Send pm or e-mail: [email protected].

There's a lot of hobby king electronics that are absolutely fine. A gyro malfunction does not indicate a wide brush all products from hobby king are bad.
Sorry you lost your plane, but malfunctions happen occasionally in any brand.
I've also lost a CMP me109 in the past. Had an esc go up in smoke and a battery fail mid flight.
ESC was a castle HV 160 and the battery was Thunder Power brand.
I'm not going to shout out. ...dont use Castle electronics because of it.

I still have the Sierra gear as well as there TY spinner. However, I've also got a replacement airframe sitting in the basement. So not selling the parts.

I also had a Hobby King Orange Receiver fail. It was in a small fomy, so no big deal. Still for me, no HK electronics for any device where failure could cause a crash. I have HK electric retracts in a plane. If the fail, the plane might be damaged, but not totaled so I'll use them. Not critical.

I've watched your previous builds. Can't wait to see what you do with this plane.
